Food for thought Part II or 3/4 Quarter Blues

We have won 40 quarters of football this year, third best behind Adelaide with 42 and Collingwood for 41.

The breakdown of the 40 is:

    Q1: 11
    Q2: 11
    Q3: 6
    Q4: 12

Our second and fourth quarter efforts are equal best in the league but our third quarter is the second worst in the comp just ahead of St Kilda with 4.

Any thoughts why our third quarter is so poor?

    Well here's a few guesses:

1.The boys want to give the crowd an exciting last quarter.

2.They need a breather because they have run so hard and set up the win in the first half.

3.Opposition coaches and players raise their efforts because they know they have no chance of getting back into the match if they
    don't.Desperation is a motivator.

Maybe because Roos likes the practice of resting your best players for the last qtr's, even though it is usually only for the last 7-8 minutes of the qtr, so I would be interested in seeing if we lose those 3rd quarters in time-on.
