Scoring End

After the recent game against the Dockers where most of the goals were kicked to the scoreboard (Cheer Squad/Non Kenny) end, I wondered if that was the scoring end at the SCG.

In my mind, whenever there were many goals scored in a quarter by one side, more often than not it was to that end of the ground.

*The 10 goal final quarter against Melbourne earlier in the year was kicked that way.

Is that the thoughts of others out there - that scoring at the SCG tends to favour that side??

We like it when the 4/4 heads towards the scoreboard, being the end we sit towards.

That being the case, I've noticed for most of the season we have finished that way. I can't recall the Adelaide game, besides that I think the only other game this year finishing towards the Paddington end was West Coast.

Against Adelaide we finished toward the scoreboard (Randwick) end.

I always thought that the Paddington end was the scoring end ... but I've never tried to do a tally. Just a gut. Mostly whoever wins the toss elects to go that way.

Opposition teams don't have a good record from any further than 30m out kicking towards the Paddington end from the O'Reilly concourse side of the ground.
And that's because of Destructive. He does good work.

The Randwick end seems to be the scoring end as far as the Swans go - I can confidently say that against Melbourne, the Swans kicked 14 out of 17 goals to that end, because I was sitting at the Paddington end. That (Randwick or main scoreboard) end always looks more full, both on TV and at the ground. Maybe the extra noise and the cheersquad spur the players on? If so, Good work, Cheer Squad!
