    Afterthoughts on the Aftermatch

I went to the aftermatch, but only because I was getting a lift home and didn't have any choice. As usual, Luffy did a splendid job for what will probably be the last aftermatch this year.

Peter Jonas spoke first and expressed the disappointment of the night's game. He couldn't explain what went wrong either. He said Doyle wasn't coming up as quickly as they had hoped and that he was a few weeks off from returning. The two players who came up were Andrew Schauble and Stephen Doyle. Andrew just asked everyone to keep the faith with the team. Doyle said that he might be back next week, so after Jonas' comments there's a bit of confusion but I think what Jonas said is probably right.

Many disappointed people at the after match. I'm still down about it today. I expected losses against Adelaide and Brisbane but thought we should win the other three.

Realistically, everyone predicted the Swans to finish last. We should be very happy that they are in the top 8. Anywhere in the top 8 after Rd 22 has been a success in this first year post Eade. I thought that the Swans would finish 5,6 but a loss last Saturday night would likely result in a bottom 4 finish at best. A loss next week and assured wins to Fremantle and Essendon will have us 7th and if West Coast get up we will be 8th with the Saints 1 game behind (I'm assuming they will beat Carlton).

St Kilda then plays Western Bulldogs and Geelong and another loss for us and we could very well be doing a Richmond this year and finishing 9th. The team is starting to show wear and tear now and as predicted in the media, the wheels may be about to fall off.

So any home final is looking very unlikely now. However, it's been a very promising year and a great deal to look forward to next year.

This Sunday against the Lions will show what chances we have.
In memory of my little Staffy - Dicey, 17.06.2005 to 1.12.2011- I'll miss you mate.

Don't think the Brisbane game is the big one.

North's grand final was yesterday - ours will be against Collingwood.
