    What about Ablett?

I notice everyone seems to be talking about Stevens, Nicks, Mathews and Fosdike all taking a holiday but no-one seems to mentioning Ablett as a replacement.

IMHO he is a good replacement for Nicks because he has similar body size and good kicking/handball skills as Nicks, and is probably better in the packs.

The fact that he has some body mass against the Lions is also usefull. His form has been very good in the 2s for some time now.Is it time to give him a go too?

I just feel that if we don't then we may never get to see what he can do. I don't think has has had a fair go yet.

    Any comments?

I think Abletts blown his chances for this year. Now that we are in finals mode, I cant see any real changes other than the inclusions of Doyle, James, Seymour, Warfe, MJ at various points if form warrants it.

Warfe ?? how dare you mention that name on this board ??
I think you are wrong , I think Ablett may well get a run this week too.

I would be very suprised if Ablett gets a re-call this week. Meiklejohn, James and Sundqvist would be the only chances in my view, but stranger things have happened.

Agreed Footyhead, I would also like to see him getting a final chance to prove himself for the last couple of weeks of the season, otherwise he's almost certain to be delisted come year end

It's dubious to think Ablett will play seniors this year and almost certain that he won't be in the AFL next year. If his name wasn't Ablett we would not even be discussing him. I remember that we drafted him at pick 15 , much earlier than he was projected and that Richmond picked up a M Coughlin with the following pick....ahhh the benefits of hindsight

I think Luke has the talent but time is not on his side in 2003.

I would still like to see him play AFL for us in 2004. Roosy is no dope, if they do keep Luke and his fitness is satisfactory, I reckon he will play seniors.

He has the talent, no doubt! The coaching staff love fit players at our club and if he can get that to an elite level, then I reckon he is a chance.

he's playing well in the reserves. I think he's on the cusp. The problem he has is not unlike Sunny. He needs time in the seniors to mature and develop his game to the next level. I'd like to see him stay around and be given a go. The only other problem he faces is that there are group right on his heals also chasing senior selection. Some of these guys are mentioned along side him as best of ground in the ressies each week.

Haha, warfe is such a downy that we aren't allowed to mention him any more. Poor bastard, pity he cant play afl.

Ablett was actually picked at 24 or 25, tho' it is correct that Coughlan was the next player taken.

Excuse me but this is Bu lls hit. Luke is a young Player of great potential who has been given limited chances and who has shown a lot of form in the resserves recently. He has earned his chance and should go into the team ahead of Nicks or fosdike if there is justice in the world.
