just fuming people over a conversation with a swans supporter from sydney wwho suggested to me that the club was going to change its name in the near future 2-3 years to the west sydney warriors or some other stuoid tag, then when i mentioned that the club had to longer history as the swans to do this he came back with the reply the swans have only been going since 1982 or something.i nearly blew a gasket,i hope former soth melb champs such as bobby skilton, bob pratt and greame teasdale just to name a couple dont cop this sort off ignorance as a whole from the swans supporters in sydney.i really hope that this is just a one off ignorant supporter and that the fans on a whole in sydney know about and respect the long history of the club that yes was in melbourne for roughly 90 odd years.i know some of the newer players at the club are shocked by the support they get at games in melbourne, swannies supporters quite often out numbering there counterparts.just had to get this off my chest...go the mighty bloods
do sydney make there supporters aware

Dan, I remember not so many years ago that our own president did not even want to know about us down here in Melbourne. I seem to recall him not wanting to have a Melbourne supporter base and converting the club into a purely Sydney based team. I was fuming, but have since calmed down due to that fact that I have realised that it is OUR (and by OUR I mean Sth Melb & Sydney's) club now and we have to learn to respect each others positions and nobody can take our team away from us...i don't care who you are.
It now seems as if the club has changed its tune a little bit wanting the AFL to give us more games in Melbourne for the Melbourne-based fans. Granted this is probably more to do with memberships, marketing and money than anything else, but that doesn't bother me, as long as I keep seeing my beloved bloodboys playing I will be happy!Go you mighty BLOODBOYS! -
thanks for reply
yeah as i said i hope and pretty much thought to myself that maybe i had just encountered the 1 in thousands ignorant supporter,i personally have no grudge with the team going to sydney as we wouldnt have a team to follow had we not.go the mighty bloodsdaniel fComment

Well, I can assure you that I'm one Sydney-based member who's very proud of the club's long history - all the way from before the formation of the VFL. I love reading and hearing about the old South Melbourne champions, and I was happy as anything when the club decided to announce their TOTC - AND the use of the red V in last weekend's game (even though we didn't do the jumper any good by playing as limply as we did.. but I digress).
I'm sure you just encountered a lone loony (or maybe someone taking the piss. It happens)
177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

That name would also suggest it was targeting the west of Sydney, which may imply they will move from the Eastern Suburbs and the multi million dollar facilites they have fought to build over the years. Somehow I don't think that will happen. Here's my heart and you can break it
I need some release, release, release

West Sydney Warriors?
I don't think so!
I think someone was giving you the wind up.
As I've said before how can you know where you're going if you don't know where you've been?
If this person can't appreciate our great history then that's a bit sad really! Especially if they proport to be a Swans suppoter.
Maybe they're getting confused with the Sydney Kings?! It sounds more like a basketball name."My theory is that the universe is made out of stupidity because it's more plentiful than hydrogen" - Frank ZappaComment
