I guess it really depends on what criteria you're using. For goal-kicking effectiveness, probably Barry Hall, though Micky is plenty capable too. For a bloke to be kicking for my life though, I'd hand the sherrin to Nick Davis.

Craig Bolton is IMHO the best pure defender you've mentioned.

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

      Difficult.....
I'm leaning to the Schneiderman, with St Nick second...then Bazza and Magic....

A few weeks ago though I'd have had St Nick at No I, then Bazza...

Defenders....difficult again cos theyre all very different...
Leo and Irishman cos they are really attacking defenders. which I love to see (even though Leo often confuses himself as well as the opposition in his choices -- but he does break up their play. Bolton, I think is probably a better true defender. Saddo, I have mucho probs with to actually rate him as a defender as I believe hes played OOP (hes a flanker or a wingman, not a CHB)...
"Davis...Davis has kicked 2...he snaps from 40...dont tell me, dont tell me, hes kicked a goal....unbelievable stuff from Nick Davis, can you believe this, he's kicked 3 final quarter goals and Swans are within 3 points..."

Why choose? At both ends of the ground these players complement each other. No other Swan could bustle and make space the way Hall can. I suspect no-one other than Schneider or Davis could have kicked the goal that Schneider kicked in the second half last week against the Hawks, and I suspect no-one other than Davis or Schneider could have kicked the goal that won us the Collingwood game. Probably only O'Loughlin could have kicked his second goal against the Lions. They've all got their party tricks, and so long as they play to their best advantage things are looking good.

At the other end, Kennelly wouldn't stand a chance against Brown, but then Bolton doesn't have the same run as him or as good kicking skills, and can't drift forward to kick important goals. No-one, but no-one, can dance around the place like Leo can.

            Accuracy at the sticks: Davis
Big Bags of goals: Hall, Micky

C.Bolton is the best negating defender and Kennelly is the best attacking defender.

But I'm with Lizz, what's the point in choosing?

For just a little bit of fun, perhaps...

We are not actually going to email this stuff to the selection committee at the club and say, "Righty-o, the people of RWO have voted...Hall and Magic are in, Davis and Schneider out..."

I think it is actually quite interesting to get other peoples views on how they rate players and why they rate them etc.

For mine, Hally would have to be our gun forward just because of his size, presence and ability to kick bags. Leaping Leo would be our number 1 defender at the moment. He is frustrating at times as he peels off his player a little too much but he is always looking to create and create, he does!

Whoa, hang on. Where's Schauble in all of this. Surely hands down he is our number 1 defender. he may not have the flair, but he gets the toughest opponent each week. And when he has been able to play waya from FB in previous seasons he has regularly drifted forward to kick goals as well.

But the whole point is that they each complement each other. Isn't it a bit like asking "which is better, meat or vegetables".

OK, they do compliment each other, agreed. With your analogy of meat and vegetables, MEAT wins hands down. Vegetables suck!

OK, have to confess i'm not a huge veggie fan either (especially the way I seem to cook them) but I do know they're good for me! Maybe I should have asked "pasta or sauce" - neither good without the other.
