I recall a commentator saying we were the worst in the leaugue at getting a shot on goal directly from kick-ins. It was a game at the G and we responded by scoring a goal from a kick-in about ten seconds later.
We really aren't much good at it, frankly. What was Tiger doing??????

This year has been shocking as far as kick ins are concerned. However there have been a number of times when Sydney have been playing good and we've ran right down the ground and kicked a goal. We're still winning but it could be something that the club should have a look at.
Originally posted by floppinab Are we the worst in the league??? Seems like we're giving up at least a goal every game or two because of poor kick-ins.
Should be something they should've sorted out by now.
tadhg didnt take a kick-in for the rest of the game against brissy, i doubt we will see him do it again in the near future, i like the idea of schneider kicking in though
It's one area where we're missing Dunks a little bit. In recent seasons he was, more often than not, the target from a long kick-out, often with Saddo standing close by him. Ball is probably the next best at providing a decent marking target in those situations. Players like Goodes, Schaubs take the odd one but they're not particularly reliable in a pack.
Without a long target to aim for, the team invariably goes the short chip route, or kick to themselves and then aim for the boundary line.
Maybe this is one area James will be able to help out in as he gradually finds his feet. From the few AFL games he's played he's looked to be a pretty strong mark overhead. Of course, there's no knowing what the intervening years have done to this aspect of his game but at least his shoulders haven't taken a battering, injury wise.
I concede to being destraught every time we get a kick in until it has been safely received and passed on. This drives me nuts and sends me into a screaming frenzy - not an attractive sight!
