Red, I can remember an article the other day where he was quoted as having bought a house was living with his new girlfriend and was close to a new two year deal.

I think it had been spoken of early this year but was no longer what he wanted.

Must admit I always thought of Mark McVeigh as soft and a bit of a poseur.

But since we picked up McVeigh jnr, I've taken more interest in Mark, and I think that this season he is fitter and stronger, and definitely much harder at the ball. And I notice that Sheedy is giving him a much more prominent role in the team, usually as a minder.

I reckon he could turn out to be a good player in time - he certainly has good skills.

I'd swap him for O'Keefe, who I enjoy watching, but I think will always be a fringe player.

I saw a similar one but it didn't mention the contract. Hope so

Don't make that call too hastily, I thought the same about Kirk, Cook, Tiger and Caven, amongst others......

However, Jarrod will be way better from what i've been hearing.
I hadn't passed by this forum for a while, but seeing this thread... I just had to set some things straight.

            1. McVeigh isn't hated by Essendon supporters, true he isn't a favourite for most fans, but until recently Scotty Lucas has been the traditional whipping boy.

            2. Suggestions of a Nicks- McVeigh trade are just sheer lunacy. There is no way in hell we would even think of accepting such a trade, really where do you people come up with such things??? Now a Saddington - McVeigh trade would appeal to both clubs, but the fact is you already lack key position players, so trading Saddington doesn't make much sense.

And in any case if your club was really interested in getting McVeigh then it would want to reach a trade resolution, otherwise you'd have to take the chance of waiting your turn at the pre-season draft, by which time McVeigh would have been drafted by another club.

Will not entertain the though of O'Keefe for McVeigh.
O'Keefe has so much more potential.

I think if Ryan has a decent pre-season under his belt, he will be a great skillful midfielder. Centreman. Give him time. He is only young

The point that most people are missing is that if Mark wants to come to the Swans, then Essendon dont have that much bargaining power. Therefore, we will certainly not need to lose any of our decent players, e.g. ROK or Saddo. You only have to look at the Nick Davis situation to see this. Anyway, I dont exactly think that Mark would be SO highly valued by the Swans that they would sacrifice other young talented players already on our list.

Essendon will be forced to make a trade if he really wants to come, because they'll want something. Swans will play hard ball, coz they hold the upper hand. Swannies wont be too worried about Mark going into the draft, coz many other teams would pass up their opportunities to draft him coz no one wants a guy on their list that doesnt want to be there. Otherwise they'll be in the same situation in a year of 2 when he still wants to come home.

If we dont get him, then nothing gained, nothing lost. If we get him, the worst we lose is a 2nd round draft pick. I'm not 100% certain, but isnt this what we gave up for Davis?

We've been screwed by mummy's boys for too long. Its time for us to reap some revenge!

Why would we bother doing that? They are both similar players. It isnt like we need McVeigh that much. He will be an addition to our midfield, not a replacement.

Its like saying that because we need a fullback next year, we'll trade Schauble. Use some common sense, please. Or should we trade Goodesy as well....

IMO Fosdike is not premiership material for us. But its the sort of trade where both players could blossum in different environments.

Bit harsh Baz, but anyway ...

Fossies one of those kind of players that you don't really notice how important he is to the team, until he does something wrong, or has an ordinary game. He was great against Brisbane, and is already contracted for another couple of year anyway i think (?) .

Yep, according to the 'Talking with Tadhg' section on sydneyswans.com.au, Fossie is contracted till 2006.
