    If we beat Collingwood...

we will most probably finish second you'd think, because we should beat melbourne, and port should beat the crows.

anyway, if this happens, do we get two home finals (assuming we win the first)? or will one of the major prelims played at the 'G?

WE would need Port to lose the QF for us to get a home PF

Sydney are virtually another Melbourne side they play so well down here.
i think he's assuming that port must lose a QF then, and win a PF.

        That's right.
With all the banking talk going on recently, the thing that hasn't changed is the one of the PF's WILL be played in Melb. That isn't negotiable. JS is absolutely right, the top ranked team gets to host prelim at home....so that will be Port if they win their first final or the winner of 2 v 3 if Port lose (cos then 4 would be the other host of PF and would be lower ranked).

Don't forget that if we finish 2nd then Port will play Adelaide, Brisbane or Collingwood....(unless Freo beat Ess at TD and WC in Derby and Bris win 2 and Coll and Ade one each) then Freo would be 4th

So, anyway what I am saying is that Port are no shoo in to win that final. (neither are we against one of those 3 teams!!!)

Chance of 2 home finals and then straight to the GF, I say.

I know it's very tempting to look ahead to the finals (and even the grand final) but let's not count our chickens before this weekend's match against the Wobbles and then the danger game against Melbourne.

I agree if we win on Saturday it is likely we will finish second, and that would probably mean a final against Brisbane.

Without wanting to play devil's advocate, Sydney's recent finals' record has been woeful to say the least, winning only one final since 1996.

Even if we do play at home we will be coming up against some very hardened finals teams - Lions, Port, Crows, Wobbles, Dons.

Still, this is a very even premiership and it is a different Swans team. There would be no better time than to turn around our recent poor record at the business end of the season.

I'm a little concerned that a couple of the players have come out in the media and started talking about the finals, even the GF. Really hope they're not getting ahead of themselves. 100% concentration required on this week's task.

Hopefully they've learned from the Hawks match to keep focused.

I can't see anything wrong with Nick or Barry, coming out and saying what they did . It'd be such a shame for the players especially the younger ones, if the finals arrived, which they almost have - but kept being talked down, instead of being talked about as something wonderful that they're all about to be a part of . It's what every footballer, and supporter for that matter, dreams of . So why not say it out loud ....

Playing things down has had results so far , but now self belief is paramount .

Plus IMO, they've only said what most people up here think anyway ...
