    Noise , Fans and Theatregoers

I was irked by the Hawks fan who called us "theatre-goers" the other week , but I can see his point.
There'll be a lot of bandwaggoners this Saturday.

Obviously the criticism does not apply to us R&W onliners.
Still , I am taking seriously my duty to lead the chanting on Saturday - well , in my aisle , at least - and I urge you all to play your part in encouraging the quiet fans to get right behind the Swans on Saturday.

Let's not forget that it could be Crezza's last game up here.
He deserves the Kelly/Dunkley treatment we served up for the Richmond game last year.

And a big welcome to the Collingwood fans - I am looking forward
to a terrific atmosphere on Saturday.

Cressa will have a final in Sydney. Can't see us finishing 7th or lower. Only way we miss out is if we finish in bottom four and Collingwood is 3rd/4th but the fact that Essendon plays Pies should see one of those two finish 6th at worst.

Funny, I seem to recall a big drive by Hawthorn to desperately try to get more members a year or so back.

Does this mean their fan base has always been low or they were dropping off due to their poor performances?

      Gee, I wonder?

The only BW's I have a problem with are paid up members (esp those with reserved seats ) who don't turn up every match.

It's always been low - despite their massive onfield success. Don't forget they were a bee's dick from disappearing altogether in 96...they were rattling the tins and all.

Maybe the Hawks supporters started to drop off, when all the players started to look the same . It'd get a bit hard working out who's who , lol . Blonde highlights, great tans, farrah fawcett smiles etc ...

I would'nt be suprised if Hawthorns No1 ticket holder was either Snowball II or Santa's little Helper.

I bit off the track, but I would be dissappointed if we didn't get bandwagoners.
The team is playing exciting footy (as Roosy promised) and doing it well, so why shouldn't the fair weather fans come out?

It's money for the club and a possible breeding ground for converts to this code, so I too am more than happy for 'em to come along!

I just want them to make a lot of noise and not try to turn TS into a library !

I, for one, was a 'victim' of the bandwagon in 96, it just provides more converts in the long run...

Exactly! I dont get why so many of you guys are against the whole Bandwagon phenomenon. I too was a convert in 96, and am proud of it.

It is the best way that new people will become exposed to the AFL. I have been brought up in a Rugby Union/League environment, and until 96 I didnt know the first thing about AFL. It had little coverage in Sydney. 1996 put the Swans on the map and I saw what a great game AFL is. Now i am hooked. Until then, I never had an opportunity to discover it. Now I am not just a Swans fan, but an absolute AFL fan. I watch almost every game every week. Fox Footy is the only channel I watch these days.

I agree Sharpie, I have loved AFL since I was 15 and I did originally support s&ndon because I loved Paul Salmon, he was one of their stars back then the '85 grand final. Being a female and coming from Sydney and never playing the game, that club was as good as any to follow?? (young and stupid I know).

I did though always follow the Swans, being from Sydney I always wanted them to do well and I have friends that call me a BANDWAGON supporter, but I always did have soft spot for the Swans, being a Sydney team. I can't name a Sydney based friend of mine who is a member of the club. I have not missed a home game for 5 years, I've travelled inter state for games, but I'm still called a bandwagon supporter by some ... not here ... but I don't know what else I can do to erase that opinion from some people's minds.

I'm full on red and white. I guess I'm over reactng a little to the Bandwagon title, but I think there are some old "south" people who still treat us "Sydney" people that way ... again, I'm not digging at you guys here ... one of my close friends is one of the other. I think we all love the team and hate being made feel one is better than the other .

Everyone don't bag league. I love rugby league and of course the afl too.
Why do so many people who have converted from league to afl bag out on their original code?
