    The finals-HELLLLLLLP!

    Hi gang,
Wanted to open up the floor to the finals. I have been trying to predict where the hell we'll be playing next weekend in the first week of the finals, but at this stage things are as clear as the Yarra (sorry you Vics! ).

Firstly, what are the permutations as to who will be playing who and where? Can those geekier than I please give every possible scenario. I want to say that I'm as prepared as I can be.

Why, because having missed one game this season I want to be at every game. Hence I'm dying a thousand deaths dreading the thought of a $5-600 return fare to Perth, which considering my cheque account bounced today (Brisbane coming back to haunt me ) is something I'd rather NOT be doing just now.

I have heard that we could either be playing
-the Dons @ Stade de "Theatre-goer"-despite being an elimination final still my number one preference.

-Port Adelaide in Adelaide. I just happen to have a close personal friend 1km from Footy Park. But 3 trips to SA in a year-the Adelaide Hills are nice, but not THAT nice! (Funnily enough I reckon we could knock off Port, even over there-dunno why, I just have one of those gut-feelings that of all the team we can realy catch the PAP Smears off guard).

    -vs Collingwood in Melbourne.
The Swans Cheer Squad will rock the 'G. And the pure hatred will be at boiling point, which to those who get an adrenlin rush out of their footy will be close to pigskin valhalla. (You reckon we could smuggle the drum in with the floggers? ) Is that seriously likely?

vs Eagles/Dockers in Perth. NO!!!!! Anyone got a spare $600?!

I've been to footy.com.au. But it all doesn't make any sense at all.

Can somebody give me an idea of not only where they think we'll be playing, but who out of our lot is likely to travel interstate for each final.

Would I be the only one seriously considering heading to Perth Adelaide or Brisbane?

JF, check out my thread on the General AFL board.
If my predictions come to pass, Sydney will play Fremantle at Stade de Oz in the first week.

There's too many possibilities JF. Basically any of teams currently in position 2-8 can finish anywhere from 2-8. I don't think there has EVER been a closer ladder with one game to go.

This includes Collingwood going as low as 7th (one of Freo/WC must stay below them).

Even Freo can (mathematically) get to 2nd place.

As I posted elsewhere two of the scenarios have us hosting Collingwood again at StadeOz in either a QF (2/3) or an EF (6/7).

What a game those would be!!

Please no! That means more time wasted responding to mindless posts!

That's me I guess, I spent Sunday evening writing up ladders for the 32 combinations of results (5 remaing matches affecting the finals), and even then there's percentage considerations (Sydney's & Essendon's and Collingwood's & West Coast's are pretty close).

If the Swans win this weekend, the posibilities are:
          * Finish 4th and play Port in Adelaide (req Coll/Freo/Port win OR Ess/Freo/Port win and Sydney keep % above Essendon)
          * Finish 5th/6th and play any of Essendon, Fremantle, West Coast or Adelaide in Sydney
          * Finish 7th and play Essendon in Melbourne (req Ess/WCE/Adel win AND Essendon move above Sydney on %)

If the Swans lose this weekend, the posibilities are:
          * Finish 6th and play Essendon in Sydney
          * Finish 7th/8th and play any of Adelaide, West Coast, Fremantle or Essendon away

I'm assuming Brisbane will beat the Bulldogs. Whilst I wrote down what would happen if the Dogs got up, I don't think its worth typing up.

I can't really see Sydney losing this weekend either. Melbourne have had their sights set on that priority draft pick for some time now.

In addition to the possibilities outlined by Dave, Sydney can also finish 2nd and Play Collingwood at SA or finish 3rd and play either Brisbane, Colingwood, Essendon or WestCoast at their home grounds.

You'll just have to wait JF

I think I'll rock up to a internet cafe in Melbourne as soon as the WA derby is finished.

I've still not received an answer though peoples. Who is prepared to travel where? Or are we all staying at home for the finals?

I'm definitely staying at home and I'm not calculating anything because I did that last weekend and it all fell out of place. So long as Sydney win and do their best we can get ready for the finals and who ever we play. I hope its in Sydney because I don't have to make the banner then (not as many people were there last night and it took forever).

That sounds like the most pleasant of the options at the moment. I could'nt stand another Eddie game so quickly.

I'll comfortably put my Nostradamus hat on JF and confidently state you can save your money and come back to sunny Newtown. We will be playing an Elimination Final at SA in the first week. One of Adelaide or West Coast is going to get up this weekend which will see us back to 5th or 6th.

That leaves the next questions, for members how is the ticketing for SA going to work, particularly for the non-reserved members. Will members get first access to their usual seating for e.g.????

We won't know until Sunday after the Port v Crows game. Thankfully it's the 1:00 TV game.
I'll go to Melbourne for sure; and possibly Brisbane or Adelaide, although if there's an Essendon final in Melbourne that weekend I may go there instead of Brisbane or Adelaide. I'll work that out once the finals draw is known.

Tickets go on sale to club members of either club on Monday morning. Everyone has to buy a ticket, and we won't necessarily get the same seats as we had for the home & away games.
What's left go on sale to the general public on Wednesday. That's the case for the first 3 weeks of the finals series - and there'll be enough to go round so no-one will get locked out of them.
But it'll get ugly if Sydney make the grand final. For all the Sydney members, there's only about 5,000 tickets available. Full club members get priority over season ticket members, but there's unlikely even to be enough for them. Most of us on RWO will miss out.

we're waiting for the verdict. 2nd week is out for me even if it's in Sydney (that dam wedding) so I'm waiting to see where we land after this weekend.

I even thought of driving down this weekend, but am unable to. Will be watching from home.

if we came up against them in the PF or SF, ie holland's return game i could imagine that it would become a very spiteful affair... itd be great, except for the tribunal fallout and some players missing the GF

the media hype would be HUGE!
