Personally my thinking is:
IN: James, Meiklejohn
OUT: O'Loughlin, Roberts-Thomson
FB Seymour C.Bolton Mathews
HB Kennelly Schauble Barry
C Fosdike Kirk Maxfield
HF Williams Hall Schneider
FF Davis Doyle O'Keefe
Fol Goodes Cresswell J.Bolton
Int Meiklejohn James Sundqvist Crouch
Em Warfe Nicks Stevens
It would appear that Nicks is the favourite to come in, but IMO he doesn't offer us as much as those who can play in areas we are short.
Against Port I would prefer Meiklejohn to LRT - a more viable option to play extended periods in the ruck if required.
Needing to cover Tredrea, Cornes and probably also Lade, I personally worry that with Schauble as our only true KP defender we might be caught short. James could at least provide a flexible option.
I'm not totally convinced that James was dropped as such last week - my take on it was that with Seymour and Doyle being rushed in to get a game under their belts, a third underdone tall (especially in the conditions) would have been too much. Particularly if he was under a cloud with his knee as well.
It would be great to be able to rely on Stevens and bring him in, but we really can't afford a passenger in such a big game, and unfortunately he carries that baggage at the moment.
