We're dreaming on this one a bit are we not. They have given away too many of their younger up and comers lately. They will lynch Sheedy if he lets Jacobs go.
Danny Jacobs?

If we're chasing fullbacks, I'd prefer we went for someone like Jonathon Hay from Hawthorn. They're under salary cap pressure and have lots of talls already.Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

I agree in principle, though I'm not overly sold on Hay. Someone of his size should be the target IMO, if we don't have a viable proposition already at the club (eg Hunt).Originally posted by NMWBloods

Jacobs is a fine player and will get better. I also think his "no-nonsense" style would fit into the Swans line-up well. My reservation is that he is another of those medium sized "plays-tall", relatively lightly framed defenders that we already have a few of. Would he be able to tame the kind of player that B2 or Barry struggle with?Comment

We can't trade Saddington as he resigned has he not? and we can't trade a player who has resigned in there first year, now is this true or not if so how does the exact rule work and how is it applied.Originally posted by penga
ive always rated saddington, but i would be happy with a straight swap...Comment

The other side of that coin is, can we afford to carry a 'gorilla' (or trade hard to get one) just to play on Carey, Lynch and maybe one or two other opponents in a season. My reservation is that he is another of those medium sized "plays-tall", relatively lightly framed defenders that we already have a few of. Given the running game that the Swans rely on, our defenders need to have more than one string to their bow, or they will be doomed to spend a lot of time on the bench.
Jacobs, for example, is good at running off his opponent. Mark Bolton is a useful back-up ruckman. Rawlings can play at both ends. Any of them would fit into our team without a glich.
Mind you, the most promising novice defender I've seen this season is Shannon Watt. He's built like a brick ****house, takes a strong mark, and is really fast, especially over the first 5 to 10 metres. I wonder if he's out of contract?Comment
