    Port Game-Positives,Negatives,Unknowns

This is how I see it at the moment, any other observations would be appreciated!

    Positives:

    1. No one expects us to win (except us)!

    2. Doyle will be fitter and improve:
    -more ruck duel wins
    -another prong up forward
    -nullifes loss of Ball
    -creates opportunities for crumbers
    -strong physical presence

    3. Mathews & Fosdike form reversal

    4.Crouch's form improving

    5.Davis on fire!

6.We have the double chance (what the hell!!!).

7.Hall is due for a big one.

    8. By the law of averages , the weather should be better than for the last 2 games, which should suit us.

    9. Seymour fitter.

    Negatives

    1. Playing the best team in the comp in form, on their home turf with a near full list.

    2. No Magic, no Cressa,no Ball, no Saddington.

    Unknowns

    1. Who replaces Magic & Cressa?

2.Whether Nick's back is up to finals pressure?

    3. Whether Sunny can hack it (sorry, I don't think he has proven himself yet)?

4.The weather (hope it's fine and still).
We have them where we want them, everything is going according to plan!

I think we have to bring Nicks in, Powell and I have to bow to the reserves watchers, is there a better alternative in the twos for Sunny?

Positive: any team can beat any other team on any given day in this wonderful game of ours.

Positive: we are playing as a team and they have a self belief that was SERIOUSLY missing with Eade

Negative: the possibility of falling into the "Oh well, we had a great season anyway...." frame of mind - and Roos isn't helping this cause with his comments about the team exceeding all expectations.
Sure they have, but save it for the end of the year....
Right now the players need to hear things like "You guys are REAL contenders, grab this opportunity by the scruff of the neck" etc. I'm sure this is going on in private, but the players watch tv too......

Sunny's inexperience really hurts him and us sometimes. His disposals arent always perfect. I reckon we bring in Nicks for Magic and a runner for cressa, instead of 3 ruckmans. I think our midfield lets us down sometimes.

Sometimes, we are just never at the ball and having another midfielder will help. I actually reckon we should bring Frosty back for this game. Feel free to disagree but i think with port, we will have trouble having numbers around the ball. We are good markers of the ball so i dont think stevens is a good option.

Nick Davis mark inside 50 = goal

and if they are like me, the clubs outside approach wont make a bit of difference. I get P'd off everytime someone doesn't rate us. Every comment last night on "On The Couch" implied we'd be well beaten this weekend.

If that's not incentive for our TV watchers then I don't know what is.

Flying under the radar has helped us, but it still annoys me.

Just wondering is frosty dan machpherson if so i agree.Does anyone know what his recent form has been like in the twos?I believe his exsperience in big games in and under the packs could be a huge bonus for us.Also he would surely realise this is his last shot at the big time[with swans anyway]and hell reallt needs to produce a big game.

The media has no hope for us. However, that's the media, which has hardly ever had hope for us. I have belief, along with everyone else on this board that we can win. If the players think that, which I believe they do, that is a huge postive and probably the best positive that can happen going into the game.

The other negative is the lack of an enforcer. IMO Pickett was the difference in the showdown. He rattled the crows big time.
Without Cressa we lose a tough nut to counteract the picketts.

I hope Roos puts Crouch on Pickett. I watched the replay of the showdown and that was my first thought. Pickett can get hot under the collar, and I think that Crouchie is the one that can exploit this.

I've been thinking back to the year before last when Doyle was shirt fronted by (was it Shaun Burgoyne?) when he was wide open going for the mark (out for several weeks with an ankle sprain as a result).

I had my suspicions that this was not entirely accidental at the time and that they appreciate the danger that Doyle can present to their game plan because of his high marking and physical presence.

Does anybody have the same feeling and should the side be watching out for this sort of cheap shot during the match?

I don't know about anything deliberate, but Doyle will be a target IMO due to his lack of matches. I think who ever they play on him, will try and drag him up field (assuming he will be played at FF again). I know that's what I'd try. Run him around a little. But then again, if Doyle stands his ground, it could work in reverse, especially when our midfield runs all over theirs

Yes, use Powell, LRT and Meiklejohn. Nicks in between half forward and midfield, ditto Schneider and Fozzie. We have nothing to lose, play like there's no tomorrow. The Klingon down the back.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

You would think that they wouldn't want to risk anyone being suspended by doing something stupid at this end of the season.
