They're going down like ninepins in Sydney. First it was Michael O'Loughlin's hammy. Then Daryn Cresswell's groin.
Now coach Paul Roos has ruptured an achilles tendon and will be likely to be getting around on crutches at the weekend when the Swans take on Port Adelaide at AAMI Stadium.
Roos has been scheduled to undergo surgery on Tuesday afternoon to repair the tendon in his left leg. The damage was done during a game of social basketball on Monday night.
"It was just a simple shot for goal then I felt something happen with my achilles, the next thing you know I was on the deck," Roos told sydneyswans.com.au.
"I got around to see (Swans Club doctor) Nathan Gibbs last night and his diagnosis was a ruptured achilles, so it's under the knife this afternoon."
Roos conceded that his basketballing days may be numbered, and Gibbs suggested that retirement would be sensible.
"It's a classic injury that occurs in the older athlete, but obviously he has now woken up to himself." Gibbs said.
