That wasnt quite as easy as i thought it would be,we really do
have alot of options especially in the backline.Schauble-Tredrea
will be an interesting match-up,Roosy may opt to go with
C.Bolton allowing Schauble to go back onto one of the Burgoynes.
Also that would alow us to drop back either Seymour or Warfe
[if he gets a game]and bring Schauble forward where he has had some success in the past.IMO Mathews will start on Pickett as he
has done the job on Byron well in the past,if he does run amok i belive Leo Barry could be our next best option there.

Lastly does anyone else agree that Nick davis could be the man
to fill Mick O'Loughlins spot out of the goal square?Ihave added
Warfe,Nicks and Macpherson as i believe we need as many exsperienced heads ont he field as we can get.Imo its
essential we win against port as the week of im sure would be
much appreciated by the players and also might give us a chance to get Micky and Saddo back in the team.So what do u think of
    my match-ups?

In all that i forgot to mention probably the best
match-up imo will be if Wanganeen goes to Schneider.
Cant wait to see those two doing battle.

Peter Burgoyne plays mostly in the midfield now, Crouch might chase him around.
Kennelly usually takes Pickett, and Leo will have to take the third tall whoever that may be.
Wanganeen might push forward and gives us trouble like he did last time.
Kirk will take Stevens. Carr is their tagger, he'll go after Jude or Willo.

I wonder if they'll try to tag Goodes with Cochrane again.

Yeah i agree with most of that except i think we need
to have Kennelly on a player that is less likely to hurt
him on the rebound if hes going for his great runs
down the field,i may be wrong but i seem to remember
Ben Mathews playing well on him in the past, but it
just proves like i was saying above we really do[even with injuries]still have a good team on paper and theres alot
of options for roosy and the boys to try.

Wanganeen will pick up davis IMO. They will try to exploit Davis lack of defensive skills and run out of the backline through wanga.
Davis will need to be 110% switched on.

Agree with the last post, Wanga is a key to their running game. Schneider would be a good match up because he is more likely to chase. Davis will let Wanga set up and Wanga is good enough to stop him scoring. Avoid that match-up, but Davis is capable of playing out of the square and is more than a match for Hardwick. Brogan is an underrated ruckman and will give them first use. The midfield will have to be wary of players like Stevens but on the flipside he is unaccountable at times and can be exploited. A lot may depend on the accuracy of guys like Cornes and Tredrea. they will trouble anyone in the air but are problematic kicks.

Iagree but found it very surprising yesterday on white line fever that Roosy thought Davises best asset was his second,3rd and 4th efforts and great tackler and chaser.

You have to be kidding don't you...maybe Port will play Paxman on Schneider!
The guy I am worried about is Lade, he's not much of a player but he can take a mark up forward and may stretch our backline. But hey, our backmen have been undersized all year and it has been the ability of Leo Barry and Craig Bolton to play 'tall' that has held us together down there.
I reckon Leo should be All-Australian this year, he's carrying a bad foot that requires a shot each week and I noticed last week he was in strife with his elbow as well, but despite this his form has remained strong all year.
The key to winning on Sunday is to make Wanganeen accountable.

I used to hate Warren and think he was a hack for his lack of kicking skills, I then changed my mind. A year ago when the Aussie used to have a vote from a star player for the week and he used to vote for the AFL's most courageous player, Warren voted for Kel when it was fashionable to vote for the Arch.

Then I noticed that this man could mark almost anything he wanted to and assists for goal have to be close to No. 1 in the AFL for the past 2 years.

This year he has kicked very well and I am not sure why you think Cornesy can't kick? He isn't bad when I have seen him, pretty reliable and so is Warren in 2003.

I don't want the ball going anywhere near these guys if it can be helped. They need very very close checking ALL day.

Well unless they rest a tall in the forward line i struggle to find a better match up, if he doesnt get tredrea, maybe like i said in the original post he should go forward.

Who then do you think should get the job,Leo Barry,i know some will say Crouch but surely hell be neede in the middle on Cornes or Schofield maybe even Wanganeen, besides hes a bit small in the body compared to byron imo.Maybe Seymour if hes fully fit.

is your vendetta based on a number?

                            and who is matthews?

i dont agree with nicks, warfe or frosty being included... they maybe experienced but with a little exception to nicks they dont have wise heads... im sure that nicksy will be included though... sunny would benefit from a run in the finals... o'keefe should be played out of the square and not on the wing and isnt s. burgoyne the tall one, who plays FF? i always get confused... i still reckon that davis should be playing at HF, he can kick goals from there anyway kirk will take stevens... crouch to take p. burgoyne (if thats the short one )... id be tempted to put barry on cornes to rough him up and bolton on to burgoyne...

this is how id like to see the matchups go:

                            seymour bolton crouch
                            dew burgoyne burgoyne

                            barry schauble mathews
                            cornes tredrea pickett

                            kennelly kirk maxfield
                            james stevens carr

                            davis hall fosdike
                            bishop wakelin montgomery

                            schneider doyle o'keefe
                            wanganeen paxman hardwick

                            goodes williams bolton
                            brogan schofield cornes

                            LRT sunny nicks james
                            lade CCC cochrane wilson

of the port players u have included, thats how id want it... but that my opinion...

Yep all good match ups,i see u agree Mathews should start on Pickett, and yes i think Leo could be the man for the job on Cornes but believe they will start Craig Bolton on him.
