Finals football and H&A football are quite different. A week off in the former is a huge benefit and in the latter often a detriment. The evidence strongly suggests that the teams with the week off generally do better. Recently, Adelaide is about the only team to have done well in finals without the week off.

J S, if we win this week, we automatically become the "highest ranked team", hence we will play our PF at home, and Brisbane may have to play a "home" PF at the MCG if they win this week.
Sorry Sharpie (thanks for stealing my name, BTW, people used to call me "Sharpie" round here) .......

but you are wrong with this one. We do NOT become the highest ranked team if we beat Port. The winner of Bris/Coll becomes the highest ranked team and gets the (only) guaranteed home PF.

Which is why (as stated earlier) if (and ONLY if) we win then we also want Collingwood to win. It's the only way we can get a home PF.

It's a pity we don't play first so we would know who to cheer for.

I disagree, we want melbourne teams out of the picture. We dont want to meet either of them, then we can make the MCG ours.

Collingwood have a tough draw. Brisbane, then Adelaide (fully fit). They could easily slip out in straight sets.

If we let Collingwood have a prelim, so we can have one, then their's a fair chance we will meet them in the granny....at their home ground.
