    1st Half the key

I was meant to be doing my taxes, but.....I have discovered some scary stats.

We have only won 10 out of 22 first halves this year.

We have not led at either quarter or half time for five games! (since Freo)

In those ten quarters we have lost 8, won 1 and drawn 1.

We have lost five first quarters in a row by an average of 2 and a half goals!!!!!!

We have not been within a kick at quarter time since July!

Of those five games we managed to actually win 2.

Of those five games we won five second halves.

We have not played four quarters since...wait for it...Rnd 1 against Carlton.

We have won one game by winning one quarter (against WC)

In 2 Quarter games we are 3 wins, five losses

On the positive we are 10 from 10 after leading at half time (and 4 from 12 after trailing)

Do you reckon we could have decent start on Sunday? We must be due for one.

The first half is irrelevant, the third quarter is the Premiership quarter.

Surely the Adelaide and Collingwood games would tell you this is bull****! Start is the key...we will finish well, regardless...

We definitely need a better start on Sunday, especially because we're playing against such a fantastic team. If we don't, we will have to play catch up footy, which would be tough against Port. Sharp9, what happened to your taxes.

I'm off to my accountant right now (thanks for asking) Mmmm about $723.78 (give or take) for me in a couple of weeks!

Managed to "demonstrate" earnings so low my wife will get a rebate seeing as she has a dependent spouse....

Become an actor, you earn bugger all but you can claim EVERYTHING!

Back to my point, Sanecow, I can't believe you really think a good start is not important after wjat we have had to sit through for the last five weeks...sure we won 2, but only because one of those opponents choked and the other was just crap.

So, in short, against good opponents who are playing near their best we cannot afford to be asleep for the first half - we're just not that good!

Sharp, I absolutely agree, our slow starts have given me ulcers. It's just that the 3rd quarter is commonly called the premiership quarter. Ha ha, get it, it's a laugh riot!

One of the biggest strengths our team has is its fitness to run out a full game, however this seems to have been at the expense of our starts, which have definitely cost us games against Collingwood, Adelaide and Hawthorn. Luckily against Melbourne, they were not good enough (nor did they probably want to enough) to get a good enough lead by half time, meaning that we could overrun them in the 2nd half.

My theory is that instead of warming up, they should play a pseudo quarter, so that when they start the game it's really their second quarter. They've got the fitness to play 5 .....

The first half is hardly irrelevant. We've won many games this year despite our third qtr being our worst.
