    Ropeable

Is there anyone else peeved with the complete lack of respect our team is being shown this week?Just listening to 3aw pre game and having to listen to Terry Wallace[maybe just sour grapes]saying how Essendon could lose Fletcher at the tribunal for next weeks game against the swans at telstra stadium, fair dinkum nearly threw my radio out the window.Along with this an article in the aged today saying how the bombers will play the winner of Port-Swans at telstra stadium in sydney.I dont mind being the underdogs but this is beyond a joke.

On the Port board at bigfooty.com most Port Supporters expect their team to win by around 40 points.

Port are (and deserve to be) huge favorites.

They are the best team this year.
          They have their home ground.
          We have crappy injuries.

but the biggest thing in their favor is....

The Swans Players' state of mind.

I feel they are going into this game knowing that if they lose they have next week to try again.
Only problem is, you run out of chances pretty fast.

There are lots of contributing factors to this, but the main one is that the team exceeded all expectations.

Like 96, I think the players may not be mentally right for the finals.

          I hope I'm wrong......

You could have something there, but i too hope your wrong.Imo players like Maxfield,Cressa,Hall and the rest of the senior players surely along with Roosy must make sure the boys relize the importance of a win tommorow, not only will we get a much needed break but we may with a bit of luck regain upto about 4 players in two weeks time.

Well this is where you have to be clever about things. Do you throw EVERYTHING into the middle, play Cressa even if may not be 100%, go out there with the instructions not to hold back.. Or do you save a player or two for the next week on our turf and go from there?

I'd be more comfortable if I knew the players are going in with the attitude of "We can win this game, if we play well". Hopefully the Port players are going in with the attitude "We will win this game" because if they do, we can upset them.

We really have nothing to lose. Once the boys are out in the middle of the paddock, what the experts, commentators, tipsters and whoever say.. don't mean a THING.

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

Well the three I'm close to , certainly don't want to settle for just getting to where they have atm . They've put in the hard yards all year to get this far, and won't hear of falling away at the last minute . If they're beaten tomorrow, it won't be because of their mental state . It'll probably only be due to reasons out of their control , injuries, inexperience etc . I've said it a few times before, self belief is paramount, and thankfully it's not lacking within the team atm .

                Carn the Swans

I think the fact that people are writing us off could be a good thing..It takes a lot of pressure off the players and all they have to concentrate on is playing..

We could use this to our advantage...we having absolutely nothing to lose...

Port are probably over confident...and under pressure..If we can get a good start they might start to lose the plot a bit

..They really are a great team though

I agree they are a very good team, but still id love to win not just for obvious reasons[week off-possible return of a couple of players]but also just to stick it up all these hack journos and commentators who have written us off this week.

I agree totally. As I said in another thread, the players should be offended at the lack of respect. I am sure it will fire them up for a famous victory.
