Coll v Bris game & implications for us (SPOILERS)

As I write this (ok, type this).... Brisbane are 3 points ahead at the MCG late in the 3rd quarter.

If Brissie win, there will NOT be a preliminary final in Sydney, even if we win tomorrow - Brisbane would host one at the Gabba, and we would have to host one at the MCG against (probably) Collingwood.

While this in no way changes my position on which team I want to win tomorrow, it does mean that the difference between the results narrows slightly.

This is not really a given yet, there's only 3 points in it!!

    Anyway. to recap:

    If BRIS win -

    * Sydney win means - Hosting prelim final at the MCG vs Collingwood or Adelaide - Probably Collingwood.

    * Port win means - Hosting semi final at Telstra Stadium vs Essendon, then meeting Brisbane at the MCG.

    If COLL win -

    * Sydney win means - Hosting prelim final at Telstra Stad vs Brisbane or Adelaide.

    * Port win means - Hosting semi final at Telstra Stadium vs Essendon, then meeting Collingwood at the MCG.

I guess we can eliminate a couple of those in about 30 minutes!

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

Okay, Collingwood just won - that narrows our choices down a bit.

    * Sydney win means - Hosting prelim final at Telstra Stad vs Brisbane or Adelaide.

    * Port win means - Hosting semi final at Telstra Stadium vs Essendon, then meeting Collingwood at the MCG.

Won't be easy, but the win is going to be very important. I know I'd rather have the week off and then play at home than have to fight my way through Essendon (who seem to be peaking at just the right time) and Collingwood.

God I'm depressed - I can hardly bring myself to think of the possibility of Collingwood winning again in two weeks and then again the week after!!

On the bright side the one thing that CANNOT happen now is a Collingwood-Essendon GF. If they meet it will be in the PF!!!

I actually got a bit of a laugh at Collingwood last night. Buckley being sucked in by Scott was very funny!

In addition that stuff up in front of goals, where they fumbled repeatedly and I think had to concede a behind had me rolling! First or second quarter?

Brisbane could have beaten them..unfortunately, injuries and travel let the lions down...

Collingwood are beatable, and we have proved that we can do it...

Last night game was of much better quality than the Crows-Weagles game. It was a good arm wrestle but Collingwood are definitely not unbeatable. Malthouse has them well drilled and they appear to be peaking at the right time. Will be interesting to see how today's game compares
