    The clock

Damn I hate the 5 minute warning.

    It killed me today.

To the credit of the commentators, at least THIS TIME they didn't give away how much time was left.

They know exactly how many seconds are left and usually blurt out some little quote that give it away.

But I'd do anything for the normal countdown clock to stay on during the last 5 minutes.

As a general rule, it makes things more exciting IMO

The tension of close games with the 5 minute warning is unbearable - in the finals it goes up 10 fold - Arggghhhhhhhhhhhh

For that 5 minute period I was like okay started at 21 mins trying to calculate it from there on because it was still ticking when it went over the boundary line - so you have to take that all in account <g>

Then the phone rang when it was around the 27 min mark and I jumped because of it <g>

Had to figure out if it was the phone or the siren on the tv

When it went off, I thought that maybe 28 minutes would be about siren time.

Then with all the stoppages I didn't know.

Ended up seriously thinking we were done lol

All my unbiased friends around were like "You're gonna win, what are you worried about?"

        haha

            LMAO!

I loved that the commentators picked that up and then made note about how Sydney were soaking the clock up.

The one thing that really impressed me in that regard was Sydney were under a hell of a lot of pressure for the last 10 mins but they didn't panic once.

With soaking up the clock yes we had head towards the boundary and hope to not be pinned, wrapping up the ball, etc but the thing they didn't do once which was the most impressive thing about it all was they didn't do short kicks to the same players like every other team does when they're up by that margin and that's what impressed me the most.

Yes it was agony....it went off at 21 minutes something...and everyone was jumping up and down on the couch...holding breath, crossing fingers etc...and counting...when it got to 27 minutes... I thought there's be a 2 or 3 still left....ohhh what agony....any closer and i'd have needed oxygen....
"Davis...Davis has kicked 2...he snaps from 40...dont tell me, dont tell me, hes kicked a goal....unbelievable stuff from Nick Davis, can you believe this, he's kicked 3 final quarter goals and Swans are within 3 points..."

I figured somewhere between 28 and 29 min would do it. I was frantically counting down the clock second by second from about the 14 min mark.

The tension we all experienced is exactly why they don't run the countdown clock for the last 5 min.

was watching with family members. All seemed to sense something great was about to happen and congregated around the TV. The sound wasn't turned up too high, so with all of them continually debating how long there should be, was devilishly hard to hear whether the siren had gone. When I thought I had heard it. I looked for the nearest Swan and saw arms gracefully raised in a victory salute. I jumped up and down on the spot yelling. And all around me had to ask "is that it?? They won?"

nothing could dampen the spirits though. I can go to my cousins wedding next week and not have to worry about missing my marvelous wonderful boys playing YAY.

I really didn't take any notice of the 5 minute warning, but then again, I was pacing outside the house up and down the street for almost the entire 4th quarter. Damn, I really need to see a replay to see what I missed! I was stressed continuosuly for 2 hours. I'm gonna need a heart transplant after the next game.

What abbout the dopey commentators before the game, they said everyone had been writing off the Swans before and during the season and the Swannies had confounded the pundits....they then proceeded to give us no chance whatsoever!!!

I am sick and tired of these dopes giving it to us!!!!!!

I was so stressed and scared, having flashbacks of last year and "30 seconds left" and my dad kept going "there must only be 30 secon - would you stop shrieking and put the poor pillow down before you burst it!" and then suddenly we'd won! The whole 2nd half was torture though because I knew how good Port normally are and that we weren't safe for certain, but the amazing sense of relief at the end was a fantastic release after the tension!!
