    Some quick ones

*Kevin Sheedy will now have the mind games going overtime vs his ex-apprentice, Mark Williams.

*Chance of all interstate final now reduced to nil as reliant on the Chokers for that not to happen.

*AFL is delerious as now has PF at Telstra Stadium with 75000 vs 2 men and a dog at AAMI.

*Thank God, Robert Walls wasn't commentating the game.

*Players are only 1/3 of the way there. 2 more massive steps!!

    Some other thoughts..

    - I don't mind Port vs Collingwood in the PF as they will both belt nine shades of crap out of each other, which can only benefit us if we make it to the GF.

    - I hope the youngsters learn a bit from today. Adam Schneider aside (but he has been in the team all year), LRT, Stevo and Noggy looked a bit underdone, Stevens in particular looked nervous and made a couple of silly mistakes. But they will be the better for the experience.

    - Brett Kirk - how good was he in tandem with Goodes in the first quarter?! Sensational stuff.

    - I don't think there's any area in particular that needs work ahead of the others. Micky into the forward line, ROK back will definitely help.

    - The move to get Barry into the ruck that killed 3 minutes of gametime was pure genius.

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

Des I agree with everything you've stated above.

Though I also agree with one of the articles today stating Scott Stevens had the game of his life - in defence which he's not known for he played brilliantly.

Though I swear Leo was trying to kill someone with some of his leaps <g>

This is coming very hard for me to say but good God.

It's either going to be Adelaide or Brisbane for Sydney.

Collingwood will either face Essendon or Port Adelaide.

The promotors will want Essendon to win that match so they can have an all Victorian PF and at least one into the GF.

Looking at it from our situation if we can get through the PF against either team - it's going to be a very hard encounter that's for sure.

I honestly don't know who I'd rather the Swans play if (and that's the big word) if we get into that GF.

All I know is one thing why on Earth did I decide to start a NIDA bloody Saturday afternoon course in September.

Here's hoping the PF is on the Saturday night

Nadine, I wasn't trying to say that the kids had BAD games I just thought they looks a bit nervous in the spotlight - I agree that Stevo did at least one good thing for every rushed disposal he had.

My mistake Des misinterpretation down my end.

On a bright note is the kids played much better than they did against the Pies and didn't seem to let the situation affect them as much as it did then.

Bit harsh on the young fellas. I thought LRT and Scotty Stevens were great, they had a real crack at it though Ablett did nothing as expected.

Stevens should be given more of a chance down back, I thought he did a great job down there.

Second half in defence was probably the best he's played for the club. Maybe it's time to change him to a permanent defender.

As for Kirk that guys unbelievable, he ate that Pickett shirtfront like it was fairy floss.

That was sensational - I was worried for an instant, but he just bounced back up. Fantastic game.

Always hope in finals that your future opponents in finals have the 'toughest' opposition. In 96 we were worse off for playing S&Don in the week before the GF when Norrf had the softer (at the time) Bears.

Hopefully Collingwood will play S&Don in the Prelim. The tougher S&Don side (Johnson's, plus Soloman), will belt the suitcase out of Collingwood as they have 'history'.

Pert Power are too soft - Collingwood will destroy them in Melb.

Here's to Bris and Adelaide belting the suitcase from one another

Just some more on Kirk - 24 possessions (second highest in game), 8 tackles and drew 5 free kicks (out of 12 total). He was tagged as well. Great effort.

Simply cannot agree with that statement. Sure, the stats sheets tell us he didn't blitz, but he put his body on the line, absorbing tackles and killing time, several times, just as the rest of the team did. During the final quarter that was as important a contribution as the rest of them.

To a man, every single one of the guys did their bit (OK, well maybe not Doyle, but not entirely his fault!).
