They were terrible, miles below their best. We were as good as we possibly could have been. If they had played near their best they would have been only 2 or 3 goals down at the long break.
My team played brilliantly in the first half and played valiantly and bravely against huge odds and injuries in the second half. They deserved every bit of their win. They won by guts, determination, courage and self-belief.

If you reckon your team just got there because another team played poorly, then that's your choice. Probably WHEN we win the GF, you'll still be criticising them or saying how poor the opposition was.

Port threw all they had at us in the second half and we grimly and courageously hung on to the very end. Regarless, we still won. That's the sort of team I am proud to say is mine.

What I'm saying is why can't they just congratulate Sydney when due, instead of saying Port are chokers. It was all- Port this, Port that. They (Port) didn't step up to a game they thought they could win with their eyes closed.

Hope I'm not writing myself into a corner here.
      Agree

Still it's 'Port chocked' and as Roooooooos said in his media conf, something along the lines of, 'it's a bit unfair to go on about Port chocking, coz that'd take the credit away from the way the swans played'...maybe it was immense pressure caused by the absolutely fabulous Swans rather than the media and the hoo-doo....when a team gets beaten, there's no excuses! They were outclassed and outplayed....and when they came at them in the 2nd half, it got close, but they stuck at it and won! As Bron said hey had 19 fit men if that, it was pure honesty, guts, and determination!! (plus a lot of superb play...)

I have to admit that, at half-time, part of me was wondering why Port had been so bad in the second quarter. But I've just finished watching the tape and it has hit home just how skillful and hard-running the Swans were in that quarter. If anything we should have been further ahead, because I don't think we really made the most of our chances in the first quarter

"If" the Power choked it was probably in the second half when we were pretty much down to last man standing, but they tried to be too cute half the time and didn't really keep their heads. But our boys were so magnificently brave with their work rate in that second half that it does them an injustice to suggest that's the only reason Port couldn't do it. And the final scoreboard really flattered Port, cos we really should have kicked an extra goal or two in the final term.

          I agree.

As soon as port kicked the opening goal of the third term I thought to myself "Here we go..the comeback". I really didn't give us a chance at all this week. I too was left to ponder how the hell could a team that had a 3 game clear advantage to the rest of the comp play so badly in a final on their home ground.

It was just the 110% effort put in by the boys that really made Port choke.

I don't know..1996 against the bombers was a dream..but I must say yesterdays win was the greatest effort I have seen the team put in for since I started watching them play. Big call on my behalf.

I am still on an incredible high.

I agree, we played bloody well and Port didn't.

I guess in some ways the lack of respect we're being shown is helping us. The players are getting pretty P'd off with it. Cressa's reaction is proof of that.

If it motivates the team and works for us, let them say the boys walk around in pink tutus with fairy wands when off the field.

We know how good they are. But more importantly THEY THEMSELVES know how good they are.

I wore my scarf to work today. I had a huge grin and I still have it!

God it's good to be a swan!..I can't imagine how I will feel if they win the flag. But for now I am enjoying this win...don't want to get carried away too much.

Expectations can lead to pretty devastating let downs!

Off the plane, straight home, changed into my white suit with my red top, transplanted my swans badges and off to my meeting just so I could ignore what they had to say and tell them how fantasmagorical those swans were.

Heh I wore my swans tracksuit top today, for a bit of triumphant entering... Two other workmates are Bloods, though one is on leave right now... There's a Crows supporter, who spent the day tormenting the Eagles supporter.. fun times!

The scarf comes out WHEN we make the grand final.

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....
