The on-field tension generated by that game was only compounded by the parochial commentary from Anthony Hudson.

Every second half Port goal was greeted with a "here they come", "they're back", "now they're in range".

He even screamed out a "YES" after one goal Bruce style.

I don't think Huddo is South Australian but be was baracking for Port pretty hard and not giving Sydney much credit, especially in the second half.

The final insult came in the post-match when he said the draw had "opened up" for Brisbane and Adelaide because of Sydney's win.

I guess that blinkered view is typical of many in Melbourne this year but there's only two more games to keep proving them wrong.

Will the Swans finally get the recognition then??

Right on Hammo, the creep on Fox did the same thing in the first Port match when we caned them early he treated it as just a matter of time, it was that day as it happned...but that is not what a commentator iss there to do, they decide the winner prior and commentate to their own selection, frankly we have a (mainly)disgusting set of commentators in our sport, matched only by the umpires!

Anthony Hudson has always been Anti Sydney. In a game against Melbourne in 2001, we lost by 15 points. Toward the end when Melbourne were getting on top he was screaming at the top of his lungs- "Robertson has been the hero!, Robertson has been the hero!" in almost orgasmic delight. I wanted to reach through the TV screen and wring his scrawny little neck

If he was'nt an old friend of Norris Lurker's I would have him in the same class as Caro and Mike Sheehan by now.

I thought they were ok. We were rank outsiders, and it was "unbelievable". Huddo and Lane are the two best commentators around.

Well... I'm more or less resigned to the fact that the Swans will continue to be underestimated, even if Stu and Roosy are holding aloft the Holy Grail in a couple of weeks time.

"Sydney, have won the AFL premiership! Inspired effort, Tim!"

"Well... it'll be interesting to see how much further they can go, but I've got my doubts, SOS."

I think Hudson is a Geelong supporter? I don't think he's being anti-Sydney, just pumped up that Port were in with a chance. He got pretty hyped up when Jude kicked his goal in the 2nd quarter.

I think Huddo was slightly pro-Port, particularly with free kicks and the like. Cheering for the team coming from behind is pretty standard. I thought SOS was slightly pro-Swans - really seemed to admire our effort. Tim was his usual class self and pretty neutral.

Huddo was just selling the station. I've noticed the stations try and outdo themselves worrying about ratings, and obviously if its not a close game people switch off... which is why u always hear "Here they come" and the favourite "you sense they're just in with a sniff"

Charlie, I can just imagine the last Talking Footy now on the Monday after Roosie hobbles down the dais after he and Strewie hoist the cup...

Bruce will be enthused at our heroic season, and he'll hand it over to Caro who will say something mildly complimentary then begin talking about Richo...Tim will again say soemthing like "yes, they haven't had a bad season, but Essendon aside, I don't think you can really go past St Kilda, Hawthorn or Collingwood for achievements this year..."
WE KNOW them -- all the commentators, their dislike or hatred of Sydney -- and we know what they will be saying, so it shouldn't surprise any of us. Just file them under di*****ds in your memory banks, then forget them...
If you have to see the swannies on the box, there is nothing better than muting the TV and listening to the commentary on ABC News Radio...at least with commentators which include the likes of David Murphy, Rocket, Schwatta, you get a slightly more swans-slanted call.

"Davis...Davis has kicked 2...he snaps from 40...dont tell me, dont tell me, hes kicked a goal....unbelievable stuff from Nick Davis, can you believe this, he's kicked 3 final quarter goals and Swans are within 3 points..."

Not for the true believers. That makes the team, Lizz, Swanette and me by my reckoning last week. Never mind, I'm happy to share with you all, remember the mantra. They got over the line by guts, courage, determination and BELIEF. They need us all to believe.

Do the mantra. I AM CELEBRATING THE SYDNEY SWANS WINNING THE 2003 GRAND FINAL AT THE MCG. After this weekend, I cannot imagine how good that is going to feel, this weekend, I thought I'd died and gone to heaven.

SOS is always Sydney frigid (but professional about it) but I agree Hudson is very anti Sydney. I Have no idea why. I thought he was a Hawks supporter, though.

When we did our end of year ladders at the start of the season, I was the only one that put the Swannies on top

As far as Huddo goes, he sucks as a commentator.
                              SOS is worse.
