    Enjoy your week off

    From a Port supporter

    Congratulations

Like all finals the Power have played in the Port supporters got right behind our team, but we still cant get them over the line. But enough about Port, your side was truely awesome, and well coached. The club should be thanking everyone of you who backed Rooooos when the job was up for grabs.
Your support at the game was awesome too, good numbers, vocal and colourful.
You should all be very proud.

Ps nice to see you JF and Robbieando again

    Until next time

ahh shucks..bad luck. I really do feel for you port fans..i really do. The only team i wouldnt feel for is Collingwood but thats another story.

How does a skillfull team like Port perform so poorly in finals? Is it your coach? I don't think he really is a players coach. He is a bit intense and reminds me of Rocket Eade a bit.

    But anyway bad luck.

Thanks PP - not always easy to be gracious in defeat, especially when it must be as disappointing as that one.

I'm no Power fan, but I hope to goodness that you belt those pesky, arrogant Bombers back to where they belong next week.

Cheers PP - bad luck, I know what it's like. You'll get your chance again - seeya in the grannie?

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

If the swans were dumped from the comp, I'd be a Port supporter, so I wish them well for tghe rest of the finals (unless they come up against the Swans again )

Good of you to come here, especially with so many 'chocker posts' and be so gracious

Thanks PP for coming here and saying those things, always is nice when a supporter from another club can look beyond there own team with praise for others.
Hopefully the Power can bounce back this week and finish off Essendon for 2003 (Sorry Norris )

Guys, It is us who should be thanking PP and his Outer Army co-horts. Not only did they welcome us with open arms at their BBQ before the match, but were again able to put aside how shattered they were after the match to welcome us back to the frowning remnants of that group. That took a great deal of balls to do that. I said "Sorry" to a couple of them, and their replies were of bemusement. I generaly DID feel sorry for them, as their world fell around them.

A lot has been mentioned about the small crowd numbers at the match. The Port supporters certainly do make up for it in passion. Even at 3/4 time there were "PEEEEEEOWAAAAAA!!" chants being started up. The ground was seriously a sea of teal coloured flags. Put it from a flag expert, I've never seen so many flags in a stadium. It was a sea of turquoise. Even the odd docket roll.

I'm biased, but Port had some cool big flags too, including one that sits over the gap near the scoreboard that says "Port Adelaide FC" with the Eureka insignia on it.

I've said it to PP on thePowerfromPort.com, but I'll say it here. Don't you guys hit NSW unannounced, OK!

Sadly our departure from Footy Park was wrecked by a few numskull neanderthals in old-style Port Magpies guernseys intent on looking for trouble. We were told by police to wait a bit for most of the Port supporters to go home, but these guys were loitering around the bar. When we arrived, the abuse started. Still when the abuse was along the lines of "Sydney fans eat their own snot!" you have a good visual picture of the IQ of such people. When taking a leak at half time I heard the same feral saying he was going to try and stop the game at 3/4 time and attack Coach Williams because Port were playing so badly. Now that's support for you! (Still we have Sava, so every club has its ferals!)

We had a small group of mainly the Melbourne Cheer Squad (plus Sydney regulars) spread out unnecessarily along from the front row of two bays. Luckily many Swans supporters had opted to buy tickets near us, so we looked great. I spent $60 before the Crows game to have SA-based flag sticks. The fruits of my labour were again seen on Sunday!

It is a bloody long way to Adelaide. But even from behind the goals we heard "Syyyyyyydddddneeeey" in the distance. It was at the end of the match that we saw the Redbacks waving their scarves frantically at the players. There would have been 2-300 of them up the back on the wing, which by the scales of our little club is frigging excellent. It seems that most Swans supporters were placed there. They looked great! (Bron can tell us more about how things were there!)

Sure, we'll never bring the support that clubs like Collingwood and Essendon will bring to Adelaide. But the support we had in Adelaide is an indication of the fervour for this team at the moment-in both Sydney and Melbourne.

Sunday was a win that could make this club.

              JF

PS:- Did anybody see the gusto with which Cressa brandished his guernsey at the end of the match!? Words cannot describe the way I react to such gestures. The Sydney media have been willing to put such displays of passion down to our history as a battling bunch of fighters at South Melbourne. The word "Bloods" has been mentioned more in the Sydney press in the last couple of days than it has in 5 years. This in itself is great, as the Sydney public is linking our team of today with the fighters in South guernseys of yesteryear. Our little old club is maturing like a fine red and white wine!

                Thanks Shane

Since I got home yesterday I have felt bad for you guys because you are copping it from all quarters for "chocking" which to me is very unfair on Port and ourselves. You guys had an off day and happened to come up against a fired up Swans outfit.

Still you guys from the Power From Port and the Outer Army were fanastic to me and JF. You didn't have to let come to the BBQ before the match, let alone after it when we got up. It proves that you guys are trully top class. Being the first time I have seen Port play Live, I can only repeat what JF had to say, you passion for the game is unrivaled and I hope that you guys get to win a flag soon (not this year of course )

Still I thank you for your hospitality on Sunday and hope you guys beat the Bombers this week

Once again, thanks to the Port guys for helping make things a special day.
