    Fitness doubts

Fitness doubts aside, the Swans are happy to take time out

Doubt still surrounds the availability of star players Michael O'Loughlin and Jason Saddington for the Swans' preliminary final at Telstra Stadium on Saturday week.

Team physiotherapist Matthew Cameron yesterday said a decision would be made next week on the fitness of O'Loughlin (hamstring) and Saddington (knee).

Tadhg Kennelly (corked thigh) and Ryan O'Keefe (shoulder) will have fitness tests this week to determine if they are able to take part in training.

Swans coach Paul Roos said he hoped the momentum of Sunday's qualifying-final win over Port Adelaide would carry through to Saturday week.

"You can't bottle it, but those experiences are valuable. You hope they take that on to the next game," Roos said at yesterday's recovery session at Clovelly. "I don't know if we can win the next game. If we play like that, we give ourselves a chance."

The Swans will not have a full training session until Thursday, giving the side time to rest tired legs and savour the win.

The Sydney team is now starting to be respected as a real challenger, according to ruckman Adam Goodes.

"A lot of teams are looking at us and saying, 'They're a real threat now'," he said. "It's taken until we've made the preliminary final for them to say that. But we are in the last four for the premiership and we're giving ourselves a great opportunity to win it."
