    Amidst all the hype...

    We forgot to bag the umpires. They did a reasonable job overall.....BUUUUUUT.....they got a couple of soft frees and we weren't paid a few soft ones. The difference, just for a change, was that the soft frees paid to the opposition were in front of goal.

    I didn't realise till this week that at the bottom of the HUN states it states how many goals were from frees. This week it was 4-1, If I had the inclination I would love to find out what our season record was, probably about 75-20.

    BUT ALL4 of Port's were very soft (a brush of the forearm on cheek whilst tackling, a split second grab of the back of a guernsey in a ruck contest etc) and those type of frees were regularly NOT piad all over the rest of the ground. Why does this happen to us?

    So, in short, Port scored 13 goals - 4 from soft frees and 1 (don't forget, and everyone seems to have) from a mistakenly paid mark (to Cornes).

    Just because we won it's no reason to not complain when we have been dicked by the umps, yet again. (19-12 was the free count, which is remarkable given the fact that we were the ones with the ball most of the time! And they are the undisciplined thugs.)

      Yeah, there were quite a few bad and missed decisions. But as I said in another thread, they went our way sometimes (and I'm not the most objective armchair umpire), so it's hard to complain given that we won!

          Yeah, there was a passage of play in the 2nd quarter i believe, that we were denied about 3 free kicks, but it resulted in a goal by Hall - so I did really mind.... by that sort of thing shouldn't be happening in any game let alone a final......

              Tell you what lets just do away with umps full stop and see how we go.

              Better yet why don't you grab a whisle and go down to your club and umpire a game see how you go it is bloody difficult and imo since they brought three field umps in its got worse they need to go back to two umps and do what they use to do, also I would like those two to stick together for the whole season as in junior leagues.
