Take into account the 10,000 Stadium Australia members and 5,000 to 10,000 reserved for Crwos or Lions fans and you have close to 50,000 out of 75,000 on the first day, not a bad effort at all.

And still plenty for members to purchase tomorrow before the public pick up the rest.

Sydney Swans members today snapped up tickets for the AFL Preliminary Final against either the Brisbane Lions or Adelaide Crows on Saturday, September 20 at Telstra Stadium.

By 5p.m., more than 20,000 tickets had been sold to Swans members today when sales opened. With sales to Telstra Stadium members and corporate box holders, some 30,000 tickets have already been sold for the Preliminary Final.

Swans members also have exclusive access to tickets via Ticketek on Wednesday, September 10, before they go on sale to the general public from Thursday, September 11.

AFL Chief Executive Officer, Wayne Jackson, said he was delighted with the response to the first day of sales.

?The Preliminary Final will be the first we have staged at Telstra Stadium and the first played in Sydney since that memorable evening in 1996 at the SCG when Tony Lockett kicked a point after the siren to put the Swans into the Grand Final,? Mr. Jackson said.

?In terms of what will be riding on the match, this is clearly the most significant AFL game staged in Sydney since 1996.

?There is only one game bigger than a Preliminary Final and that of course is our Grand Final.

?With sales to date, we are on track to beat the previous biggest crowd for a game between Sydney and Adelaide in Sydney (34,299 in round 19, 1999) and for a match between Sydney and Brisbane in Sydney (32,111, round 2, 1998),? Mr. Jackson said.
