B: Wanganeen (Port) Scarlett (Geel) J. Smith (Haw)
No surprises on Wanganeen and Scarlett, Joel Smith a bit more debatable IMHO.
HB: R. Smith (WB) Leppitsch (Bris) Lappin (Bris)
Could see why some would think Smith might not be worth selection but he has been solid all year. Leppitsch wasn't outstanding for me, but maybe just a sign of no dominant CHB. Lappin on a HB flank is a joke!!! Where's Leo (yes I'm biased, but how do you have a midfielder playing on a HB flank over a genuine flanker?)
C: Hayes (St K) M. Voss (Bris) P Williams (Syd)
Well deserved Lenny - when ya coming home??? No surprises on Vossy. On ya Willo!!! Maybe not as good a year as last year, but that just shows what a good year he had last year. Been fantastic again this year too.
HF: Pavlich (Frem) Tredrea (Port) Ricciuto (Adel)
A solid year from Pavlich at worst, haven't seen enough of Freo to really comment, but should excel in International Rules. No surprises on Tredrea, best CHF in the comp (I still see BBBH as more a FF). No surprises on Roo as well....
F: Matera (WCE) Lloyd (Ess) Tarrant (Coll)
Matera was the outstanding small forward of 2003, and Lloyd obviously gets picked being the Coleman medallist, but Tarrant? Can think of better players for a forward pcoket than him!
FOLL: Goodes (Syd) Buckley (Coll) Bell (Frem)
Thought they might've gone with Gardiner, but great to see Goodesy rewarded for a brilliant season. Not very often that they don't pick a specialist ruckman as the number 1. Bucks was always gonna be there, and Bell has been good - coulda gone with a few and it would have been ok.
INT: Hird (Ess) Gardiner (WCE) Hasleby (Frem) Harvey (St K)
Always a contentious one. Kirk can consider himself VERY unclucky to miss out to Hasleby. Hird and Harvey are just champs, and Gardiner was the dominant ruckman in the comp till he went down.
