Who would we prefer to play next?

I tend to think the crows would be preferable as the odds of beating the lions 3 times in a row seem a bit daunting.
The crows on the other hand are due for a loss. (providing the goal umpire doesn't @@@@ up again)
I would also love the chance to get stuck into Carey again!

Mind you I truly believe this team can accomplish anything it sets it's mind to.

I think it will be tough, whoever we play. The winner of the game will get into the Grand Final, so there's a lot at stake and both teams will have all guns blazing. Hopefully Sydney will be the better team in the end and win!

Lions won't take think they can win by a walkin the park having lost twice this year.

Let's go the cliche, we have to beat any and everyone now. Let's face it, after a stutter vs Hawks and Pies we have beaten Brizzie Demons and Port all Away, twice in do or die positions against top sides.

I think (and bloody well hope) we will be much better for the Collingwood @ Telstra, Port @ AAMI experiences, especially the youngsters and we really just have to do it twice more. Whether we win or lose we are proud of them but after 21 years I am fed up, as I read in a previous thread somewhere, of making up the nos in September barring '96....let's just get that cup up to the Emerald City.......the word fairytale is used too often but this could be the real thing!

We will beat whoever we play otherwise we are not in the Grand Final.

Port will have been stoked to played the Swans on Sunday and look where it got them. As soon as we have a 'preferred' opponent, we fall into the same trap that Port did.

Historically, we play our worse football when favoured and complacent and smug.

We will beat either Crows or Lions. The week off will do the Swans wonders.

I think Adelaide have a pretty woeful record in Brisbane so you'd expect the Lions to get through.

Brisbane are looking very tired at the moment but may yet have a couple of big games in them. That will be hard though against a fresh Swans side.

Playing at home should also be worth 3 or 4 goals to us.

As they say, if you want to win the flag you have to beat everyone. There would be nothing better than going through by knocking out the premiers.

So who would you prefer to play in the Grannie, an in form flying Collingwood or a shagged out exhausted, mentally unstable Port Adelaide?

Or does that not matter either?

There's only three teams we haven't beaten yet this year. Hawthorn, North and Adelaide. We don't need to worry about the first two until '04, and if not for blind goal umpires it may have been different against the Crows.

Of the remaining finalists we have also beaten Port, Collingwood, Brisbane (twice) and Essendon. We have no reason to fear anyone. There is no bogey team amongst this lot. Personally, I'd like to play the Crows and smash them, just for the sake of knowing that we can beat each finals participant.

I'm with Snaj' let's cover all bases and smash the Crows, I still haven't forgotten the 'mystery' knockout on Cressa in a final when he had 7 touches in five minutes and then was out cold, plus then someone jumped into O'Loughlin's back and he was finished too!

If we played Port in the GF, they would want to smash us into a pulp and would want the ultimate revenge.

I just think we have to not fall into this trap and let the foot go off the pedal because we a playing a supposed weaker side.

In 2000, Hawthorn went within a whisker of beating Essendon.
In 1999, Carlton did beat Essendon by a whisker.
In 1997, Adelaide shocked the Dogs.

Crazy things happen in finals - we saw that on Sunday. We just have to beat the next two teams we play. At this stage its all about adrenlain - the players are physically and emotionally spent. All comes down to who wants it more.

The side really shouldn't extra motivation besides wanting to be in a Grand Final and winning won.

Agree fully, however:

I think we also have to be realistic, not arrogant and understand that yes we are good on our day, but so are others on "their" day.

So the point is, you will have preferences on who you play so long as you still give it your best crack as you would the top team away from home.

If that was our next game then at least we are in the grandfinal!
