    All Australians

How fitting to see Willo and Goodsie in the all-Australian team last night, especially after last year when, even in Willo's SENSATIONAL season, he didn't make it...

Lethal Leigh said he was surprised to see Lappin in the half back line cos he'd not played there much, and suggested Leaping Leo would have been a more fitting recipient....

Oh well, it's nice to see a couple of swannies at least get some recognition

"Davis...Davis has kicked 2...he snaps from 40...dont tell me, dont tell me, hes kicked a goal....unbelievable stuff from Nick Davis, can you believe this, he's kicked 3 final quarter goals and Swans are within 3 points..."

I really feel for Leo and Kirky. They really deserved a spot in the All-Australian. I cannot believe that Nigel Lappin was named on the half back line when he has only played 3 quarters in that position all season. Does not seem fair to me. I think Leo really deserved a spot either in the back pocket or on the half backline. Joel Smith is not that good and Rohan Smith - well he might get a lot of possessions but that is because he does not pick his player up hence why they finished last. I would love to know how the team is actually selected. I think Kirky also deserved a spot - probably before Paul WIlliams. I think they must have felt a bit guilty for not choosing Williams last year and put him in this year. I do not think he has had an outstanding season.

Kirky should have gone ahead of Willo. Willo has been good this year but i dont think he deserved to be in the side. On the other hand Kirky has been sensational and was very stiff not to be named.

Shame Kirk wasn't there - would of been good and a great boost for all his hard work. Can't understand choice of Lappin.

Still good to get some Swans named - how unusual!
        Love those Swans

Goodes definitely deserved his spot - has had a sensational year. I agree with others about Willo - i think teh slectors were trying to make up for last year. Smith should have been there but not Lappin, Haselby or Smith. I think there was a spot for Kirk (and maybe Barry) and i thought Burns and Lucas were very unlucky.

Here's how my team woudl have looked:

B: Gavin Wanganeen (Port), Matthew Scarlett (Geel), Chris Johnson (Bri)
HB: Rohan Smith (WB), Scott Lucas (Bris), Leo Barry (Bris)
C: Lenny Hayes (SK), Michael Voss (Bris, team captain), Scott Burns (Coll)
HF: Matthew Pavlich (Fre), Warren Tredrea (Port), Mark Ricciuto (Adel)
F: Phil Matera (WC), Matthew Lloyd (Ess), Chris Tarrant (Coll)
R: Adam Goodes (Syd), Nathan Buckley (Coll, vice-capt), Peter Bell (Fre)
I: James Hird (Ess), Michael Gardiner (WC), Brett Kirk (Syd), Robert Harvey (SK)
          Sanford Wheeler 4 President!

Lappins coach, Leigh Mathews thought the same thing.

                Lappin selection staggers Matthews

?Nigel Lappin, wonderful player, has been picked on the half back flank and I reckon he?s played there for two or three quarters the whole year,? Matthews told Sport927.

?If you wanted to put Nigel Lappin in the midfield, he deserves that. But I don?t know how you can pop a bloke on the half back flank who hasn?t played there.?

?It would be like saying Matty Lloyd would make a good centre half-back, but he never plays there,? he said.

?What about Leo Barry who has had a magnificent year for Sydney. Not good ? magnificent. He?s been one of the blokes who?s lifted them up to where they are I would?ve thought.?
