More of a fairytale than 96?

Don't want to get ahaed of myself but if we make teh grandfinal in 3 weeks will it be more of a fairytale than 2003?

Considering where we came from on the ladder maybe not - but both were 1st year coaches, no expectations and for Roos team, definitely does not "Seem" to be as strong a list without teh champions of Dunks, Plugger and Kelly.

    What do we all think?

I'd say pre-finals - 96 - but post finals - 2003. That is, in 2003 we got 2 home finals and were given a chance in each, this year...well we know about last week and even against Brisbane or Adelaide in teh prelim it would just about be even money!

It will only be more of a fairytale to me if we are holding that mug in 3 week's time.

More of a fairytale than '03? I think you just did get ahead of yourself

I think if we made the GF it would be on par with. 96 was huge though with the Ess and Haw games

The post that snippet came from opined the same thread, a Premiership with our (albeit) shallow list and key injuries would be the biggest upset in recent football history, bar none!

Agreed '96 with Roos, Kelly Plugger et al we were expected to be a show, Carlton, Melbourne ans Saints are examples of underdogs getting what was expected at the end, we would have to be an even longer shot than them 23 weeks ago. And bear in mind the lists of Saints for instance a couple of years ago, which was not as bad as their performances a couple of key injuries and didn't they get the wooden spoon?

Three years ago we were considered slow, lacking skills, too many old players and having long term problems?
