Are they still hungry? and press overcoverage?

I always worry when they are on the cover of the sport pages for three days in a row... today makes it four.

Swans are great underdogs. Now they have made the (don't mention the f word) finals and have WON one in great fashion, are they still be hungry?

I am concerned that they think the job is done.

Last week was the first time in many games they came out pumped... I would hate to see another v's Collingwood type start again

Will Mr Roos ban the boys from the media and reading same next week... ? I hope so, otherwise I fear I will be hosting a GF party at home yet again (ie not on a plane to see the Swans in a GF)
Ducks one week, Swans the next... just don't be a Goose till October!

    I have that feeling also.

I get the feeling that in 96 they thought that they had such a good team that they would get another chance even if they didnt win the granny.

    But they never did.

They need all the old blokes from 96 to remind them that opportunity only knocks once.

I Have spent so much time reading responses and finally believe
      I have to say something.
I found it strange that Colless came out and said it would be a big Grand Final if swans v collingwood.
why dont we concentrate on the next game (or i hope the team is anyway)
that is lets be excited but not talk of flags until we are at least in the grand final.
maybe i've been around too long and always think the worst?
      by the way go Swannies

Most of this weekends footy talk will be about this weekends games. That should take the focus off them a bit.

You can imagine that if Essendon/Adelaide/Port/Brisbane have a quality win, then the talk will all be about them and about how they can get through the PF to the GF blah blah blah - last week will become history pretty fast.

I agree with Undy. The Swans are still down the list of odds to win the premiership and I suspect that come next week even those media pundits who did acknowledge how good Sydney were against Port will be predicting Brisbane or Adelaide to beat us. Hopefully that will get the boys fired up again!

I also agree 100%. The Swans has been already dropped from teh radar screens here in the Melbourne media, which is pumped up for Essendon and Collingwood. I agree with you that next week Swans won't be seen as favourites, because they are still not rated as a possible GF finallist or premiership winners. I think this is good, because there's no pressure on them to perform unlike in 96 when they won the minor premiership.

From all the players' comments I've been reading, they seem totally focused on the job ahead.

They're hungry for the cup and can see that they have not won it yet. All of the focus should be on the PF, but would it be good for the Swans players to realise that this game will get them into the game on that last Saturday in September? I wouldn't be suprised if the Swans are considered underdogs again next week, especially if we're playing against Brisbane.

Maybe they have an advantage given that one of those old blokes is the coach and he certainly knows how many times the opportunity knocks.
I don't think he'll let them get carried away.

Good point Maxfactor, their runner knows all about it too.

Heard Kelly on the ABC and he said he thought he played in a GF to early and thought there would be other chances and of course there wasn't. I think this time round people like Pluggar and Kelly will be on hand as an example of how hard Premierships are to come by.

A chat from Bob Skilton wouldn't go astray either on grabbing finals opportunities when they come
