    Chanel 10 coverage tonight

If you are as annoyed as me in the delayed telecast, call the Chanel 10 switchboard to vent - 9650 1010.

How can they not televise this game live - we play the winner in the most important game of the season next week which will draw a record Sydney crowd. Instead, they dish us up the Simpsons hour and The First Wives Club.

How are they going to know what a strong AFL following there is in Sydney unless we tell them...............!

I understand your annoyance, but the Simpsons is possibly the one excusable show to be on instead.

Any idea what the ratings have been in Sydney? From an article I read yesterday, they haven't been too great up here..although everywhere else they have been fabulous...

I also believe there may be some agreement regarding putting AFL head to head with League..Aren't there some NRL games on Channel Eddie tonight?

Has anyone heard what the ratings were for the game last Sat nite? The answer to the question might also be the answer to this one.

Don't forget that if you can pick up Wollongong TV then the game is live at 7pm

Lodged my name and protest to Ch 10 by phone and email.

Trouble is they only write down a number.

                    This relly pisses me off.

I subscribed to the optus c7 footy channel so i could see live games in the comfort of my home on a Friday and saturday night.

when the rights went to 9/10 I was asked to subscribe to the fox footy channel. I told them only if the live games into Sydney on a friday/sat nites contined not the crappy 2 hour delayed telecast.

Now I don't even have pay tv.

No live footy - no pay tv for me - its that simple

IS Wollongong Channel 4? If not how does one pick up the station?

As to Fox footy, I didn't order the footy stations this year as I too wanted live football into Sydney and thought it was a waste if we didnt get it

                        Not sure of the channel.

To pick up Wollongong you really need to have a separate UHF (as opposed to VHF) antenna facing SOUTH preferably with a masthead amplifier on it.

Most antennas are combination VHF/UHF and face towards the city. eg I'm in the North/West and mine faces S/E.

Thanks Dave! It all sounds a bit too technical for me..I think I'll stick with the ABC radio tonight..but for future reference, that info may be very useful..thanks again

Thanks for that. I've just sent the following e-mail....

I would just like to complain about the Channel 10 finals coverage this weekend (week 2).

I think a good deal of viewers would be interested to watch live coverage of the two possible opponents that Sydney would face the following week in the preliminary.
If they are not willing to show the games live then Fox Footy Channel should be able to take the game live.

As it is, I would say the most people (including myself) who do have Fox Footy will be watching the game at 9.30pm, so Channel 10 wont get as many viewers. I hope that they don't go on and say something stupid like, the rating were low. No wonder why, when they put the game on at 10.45pm. De ja vous, from a couple of years ago, when Channel 7 had the rights.

Some things have changed since the consortium got the TV rights. At least those in the northern states have the opportunity to subscribe to Fox Footy so they can get more coverage. But I think that it is important for the free-to-air channels to also show more night games live not just Sydney games in Sydney. I can not speak for Brisbane, since I don't know the coverage they receive.

If the AFL is serious about growing the game in northern states, you have to take the punt and see what kind of response you would get.

It is pointless to just focus on the Swans or the Lions. I mean, during the year, Channel 10 did televise a couple of games into Sydney when the Swans played away. If you want people to watch AFL games, I'm sure that they would want to watch ANY good game, not just games the home team was involved in.

Once again, you don't know how this would be accepted until you take the chance.

I recall, a few years ago, I travelled to Melbourne to watch the Swans. When I returned to my hotel, I was stunned that on a Saturday, in Melbourne, there were three games covered. In Sydney all we got was one afternoon game.

Unless the Sydney public is exposed to more football (especially on free-to-air TV), your attempts to grow the game will probably viewed as just, lip service.

                            Ina.

A Swans fan, in Sydney, who would like to watch good footy at a descent hour.
                            Not happy, Wayne.........

I live almost right underneath the transmission tower in Bondi Junction - and I can't pick up Sydney channels at all. So I have a signal amplifier and am pointed towards Wollongong. The ads are terrible, but at least there are some advantages.

Maybe I should have invited all the boys round to my place this evening to watch the game live
