    Kick ins this weekend.

    One of the more positive things from the Port game was our kick ins. We were actually getting the ball out to the 50m line quite regularly which was a pleasant change.

    If there's one aspect of our game that is a weakness it's those crappy little 20m kicks to the forward pocket. It's frustrating to watch and very predictable (not to mention dangerous when the other side is matching up)

    I'd rather see Davis give it a roost past the 50 and the ball going to ground ripe for the picking!

      Tend to agree.
      Problem is we are lacking talls to take a contested mark outside the 50.
      Which makes it a bit of a riskier proposition.

      I suppose it's a matter of team plans that will surprise the Lions.

      Roosy can't spill all his tricks yet though, we still have a week to go after this game

          I think that Schauble is definitely a strong enough mark to go for from kick-ins. They should have him breaking in the different direction to the pack. I don't know how many more times I have seen them go to a pack and he is there... he played CHB for so long and he has always been able to provide a stong lead/take a mark coming out of the last line of defence, now that he seems camped at FB kick-ins are probably the only time you can make use of it, when he swings forward he is just running off his man so he isn't really ever giving a lead... I don't think he should be the only option, but I think they should look at taking him out of the pack... he has always been a very strong one-on-one mark, and at worst he knows how to fist the ball properly...

              This is a strong point made and it shows that we miss dunkley and the injured jason ball. They were almost always the options for kick-ins. Goodes i think is one of the best markers in the game, but he is not always there because hes all over the place.

              Schauble isnt that strong, which makes him not the best option. While our young rucks like LRT and Meiklejohn arent very experienced.

              However, we are a very composed team who play 'sensibly'. Our short kicks are usually quite safe and it is better to be safe than sorry. Short kicking is a very safe way to play the game.

              Nick Davis mark inside 50 = goal

                  I agreee, we do miss Dunks in this situation... but I meant Schauble as a target, as a leading player and not in a pack... he has been strong on the lead over the years, which is why he kept getting swung forward at length last year when Hall was out. He is often useless in a pack as far as being the person who actually comes up with the ball, but he is a stong lead... but for some reason they seem to often have him breaking with the main pack at kick-ins... just an extra option they don't seem to go to... and they do seem to go to him every now and then in a pack situation from kick-ins...

                      Saddo was very good at marking those long kick-ins.
