It's an interesting situation. There are two choices:

    1. Play an unfit Mick for a half - He could kick a couple of goals and set up a few.

    2. Play a young player (such as Ablett last week) who tries hard, runs around a lot, but manages only a couple of possessions and has no real influence.

Based on this I would much prefer Mick. But as you say, if he does his hammy in the first 5 min it wouldn't be good.

Definitely agree with this - Sunny shouldn't be in teh team!

Reckon Doyle will start in his place

      O'Loughlin will play!

He was a 80% for the first 5 rounds this year and is teh type of player who can still contribute in that state - especially if he's one out in teh goal sqaure as i suspect he will be. If nothing else he will take one of Brisbane's good defenders out of the play - if Leppitsch gets suspended this would have a big impact on the game!

Oh, Seymour is out for the rest of the year, so forget him as a possibility!

I am not liking the sound of Mick's hamstring.

I'd like to be proved wrong, but if he's still only able to lightly jog its a long road to recovery.

It's not a case of not wanting to risk him, but not wanting to be down a player if he re-injured himself.

Roosey has said though that he's consider playing Mick even if he can only stand in the goal square.

Light jog was on Friday - Monday before that he couldn't walk - it will be touch and go but i think we need him! As someone said previously it is better having him in teh team even if he can only play a half and have an impact rather than put osmeone like Ablett in who will try his guts out but have little to no impact on the outcome!

I'm sure Micky and Saddo WON'T play this week. Too much to risk if they get injured again.

LRT was very good against Brisbane last time, so Meiklejohn might get a call up to assist. Doyle will be rested.

Powell must be very close for a call up. After all he was there at Adelaide last week so I'd risk him over Stevens.

From the interview with Roosey on C7 this morning, sounds like Tiger, O'Keefe and Doyle are all pretty much certain to be right. And if Doyle is fit, they'll play him. Goodes needs help and even a rusty Doyle is a more viable option than MJ at the moment.

He sounded pretty optimistic about Micky and Saddo as well, and there's no doubt that either or both will play if they're ready.

Great to see him still with his sense of humour. Loved his comments about his "best mate" Lynch. For those who didn't see it, Roos was asked whether he was worried about containing Lynch, and he answered that Lynch has said that he won't kick any goals on the weekend, that he's happy with his two premiership medallions and has promised to play badly.

Any players could go down in the first half.

I agree with Swans Premiers- any player can go down with an injury.

However, addressing your point, I was really stating what I think will happen, not what I think should. Personally I'd only play Saddo if he's completely over his knee and has been able to train all week. With him its a fitness thing as much as anything, and if we do lose other players through injury, the last thing you want is a player who can't play the game out because they've lost conditioning.

Doyle is not going to be at full strength, regardless. But if there are no lingering doubts over his ankle I think we have to gamble on him. Not only does he provide an option of some relief for Goodes, if worst comes to worst we can just stick him in the goal square and kick long to him if the game gets tight late on. Having this option might also enable Hall to go forward and help out Goodes in the ruck, knowing there's a genuine target left up forward.

O'Loughlin is a tough one. I agree with comments on other threads that at 80% fit he is worth the risk. However, I wonder whether you can be 80% recovered from a hamstring. Surely it's either right or it isn't. He has to be able to run freely or he's not going to be worth much. He's not a Doyle who can mark simply through his strength. It's a combination of that and his agility that makes him so dangerous.

If I can sprint I'll face Lions

THE need for speed will decide Michael O'Loughlin's fate for Saturday night's preliminary final showdown against Brisbane........
