The gulf in what you are feeling when your side makes it this far as opposed to when it doesn't is like trying to know what its like to be in love when you see a guy and girl walking down the street holding hands.

I've been absolutely nuts this past week - i keep coming out with "ooh i'm so excited!" just randomly because I'm so hyped for this! Having said that, in a worst case scenario i'm gonna be so deflated I pity all those who will be around me come the final siren. In a best case scenario however, if you think i was bad this week, wait til then!

Went to my nephew's grand final today, he is the captain of the team, they won by 3 goals, it was a bit nerve wracking at times, I just kept on wondering how I would be next week, if I was like I was today at a local footy GF.

Congrats to the Ruperstswood Under 19's on their win today

This weekend was the first one I have spent in Sydney without football since June. I have to say that I'm very run down and am just enjoying doing houehold things like re-arranging the furniture in my bedroom etc etc.

I'm very much a forward-thinking type of person, so I'm already stressing about booking flights and accommodation for Grand Final weekend. Plus planning my day on Saturday, where I hope to get out to Cathy's place to help her load Gemma's Dad's trailor. I have Robbie's and Alex's big flags and will be buggered to be taking them all out on the train. Oh AND the bag of flags I took to Adelaide too. I'm even stressing because we cannot locate the guy who brings most of the giant flags along (who appears to not be coming at all this week), and have a contingency plan to have two extra biggies made by the lovely Cher in Geelong so that Gemma and Brycey have flags to wave on the big night. If Gums DOES come, man-we'll have enough flag material to make Alinghi's crew happy.

I go through fits of "I'm over this". Especially as the weather gets warm and I think of lying on a beach. I went out both nights this weekend, and left at 11pm because I was so jaded.

But then I look at where we've come, and what lies ahead. And I get very very excited. Just wish I'd be able to go to the Grand Final Parade to soak it all up.

But I guess I can't win it all.

It's a special time where the blood gets a-pumping. ENJOY IT!

                    JF

PS:- Does anyone want to organise a special meeting on the Sunday after the game (for those of you who aren't on early flights? How about a ferry ride somewhere? That would be heaps cool I reckon. (Plus we can gently rub it in to our southern fans about how beautiful Sydney is. )

Obsession obsession obsession to the point of indigestion.

I could not finish my lamb during the Port game, I was getting heart burn, so had to stick to the beers.

Has anyone read 'Fever Pitch'? It is about one man's obsession with the Gunners through a long and testing period when they could not take the Premier League for love or money.

His love of the game cost him several friendships, relationships and just downright made an angst ridden bore.

Well if that's you...welcome aboard the Swans diesel locamotive heading to Spencer St Station on Saturday September 27!

I think we have earned our due this year as much as anyone. We have beaten all the other finalsts on their home turf and now it is time to show we are no frauds.

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....
