    Reserves?

    Any news at all?

Do we even know who played?

      Preliminary Final

      Queanbeyan Tigers defeated Sydney Swans

I do not have the scores or details as yet, but Swans lost by about 3 goals after the Tigers piled on 7 goals in the last quarter . More details to follow.

The Queanbeyan Tigers will now play the Belconnen Magpies in the Grand Final.

Was at Manuka, must have been extremely short because they requested the services of a mate, still 17, and there were other Rams asked to fill in for injured swans

            Can't believe we lost!
Not convinced the ACT experiment has worked.
Calling for a merger between Sydney and ACT leagues, because we need to be settled in Sydney, with the competition from both leagues' best. May ruffle feathers, but for the long term gain!

I think its worked well. If we had finished 3 games clear on top, then it would be a failure, but to finish effectively 3rd means our reserves are at the same level, and we arent stuffing up there comp.

As it is we play half the games in Sydney, and it must be a real buzz for the canberra boys to play in stadium australia (Wagga for the coll game).

It's a **** load better than the arrangement last year. I reckon having them all play together has been a reason why our young guys have come on so well this year, instead of half playing for Port Melbourne and the others playing for the "Sydney Redbacks", as was the case last year.

I'm happy with a competition where the Reserves aren't totally dominant and play as a team (apparently with a few ring-ins).

We were down at 1/4 time and 1/2 time, we were up by 20, yes thats right TWENTY, at 3/4 time and they kicked 6 goals to 1 in the last. Heath played a full game at FF and CHF. Macca, NOG, Frosty, Warfe all played, more later....

I have been a bit slow but results as promised .

                          Queanbeyan Tigers defeated Sydney Swans

                          Tigers 11.10.76 Swans 9.3.57

Goals: Ablett 2 Sunquist 2 James Malceski Potter
                          McVeigh McGlone

Best : Stevens Ablett Frosty Malceski McGlone Crawford Shaw

In regard to the Swans playing in the Canberra comp. IMO it has been a success .

The Swans have not dominated and the young players must have obtained great experience playing with the older players. The Swans coaches run the show and the club also saved a lot of money by not flying players to Melbourne each week .

A lot of people on this site have underestimated the strength of the Canberra comp, but it has always been reasonably strong and has produced some very notable players. Personally I found it hard to get a kick as I seemed to play on someone coming back from the VFL(at that time ) or someone soon to be going there. .

Queanbeyan Tigers are a very strong and physical team so its no surprise they beat a team of second rate swans and Rams

Interesting that Ablett and Stevens were amongst the best.

Possibly Frosty's last turn out for Sydney

Agree that the Canberra comp has been good as it is genuine seniors
