I'm sick of all this rubbish, about us doing enough this year and we should be happy with what we've done. Yes we have done well, but I want to go all the way. We have shown we can beat the good sides, so we are a huge chance for the flag.

I do not want us to be just happy with what we have done so far this year. And I certainly don't want us to just accept mediocrity, which has been accepted for the past 50 years or so.

I agree with you Plugger. After watching the videos of the two semis, I'd place us as better than 50:50 to beat Brisbane and Port. Collingwood I can't say as I always underrate them but think they are still likely to underestimate us - at their peril.

If the Swannies play as they did vs Port, I'd rate us 80% chance for premiers. So it's there if they want it.

I'm glad I bet $40 on them when the odds given were 18:1 last week.

You're right, Plugger, for better or worse we have shown that we can play as skillfully and as hard as any other team in the comp (though we still haven't played at our best for a full four quarters, yet). Plus we have shown that from a tenacity and mental strength point of view we are the benchmark for the other teams.

Therefore we can only be satisfied if we play with the highest level of skill, hardness and guts for 120 plus minutes on Saturday (and, hopefully Saturday week). If we do this we will either be the Premiers or we will go down in history as having lost the greatest final in history to the greatest team in history - because that's what it will take to beat us if we give it our best.

And yeah, I'd actually be happy with that.

At the beginning of the season I just wanted the team to put in a good effort each match and play to the best of their abilities. A couple of months ago I was satisfied just to make the finals. At the beginning of the finals I really wanted us to avoid going out in straight sets. Now I desperately want us to make the Grand Final. And I suppose if we do make the GF, I will be heartbroken if we lose it.

Sharp9, I'd have thought we played our best for a full four quarters in the last game.

Outplayed port in the first qtr, blew them out of the water in the second and showed absolute guts and determination to hold on with 19 men in the third and fourth.

We might have lost the last two quarters on the scoreboard, but no way were we not at our best!!

I have to disagree too. The first half of the last game was pure joy to watch but the second half was more inspired as they threw everything into defence (and attack) when they were exhausted.

I suspect this week will be different: ideally we'll start hard and fast again but if we just stay near level we should be able to draw away at the end. Only if we start slow are we likely to lose - Brisbane is too canny to let us come back from 3 or 4 goals down at the last break.

Call me a hard mark but the third quarter was only a 6-7 out of ten. Responded pretty well to the challenge then let two soft ones in in the last couple of minutes. We lost the quarter by 3 goals didn't we?.
