    '96 Gf

Just watched the 1st quarter of it, on fox footy, and I still can't believe we lost. The big fella was on fire, the skipper was killing them as was Luffy. Bayesy and Roosey were playing very well accross half-back.

A few of the goals were great, Lockett's goal on his left foot, where he pushed Shannon Grant out of the way, was outstaning.

Let's hope we can go one better this year, as it's the only thing I can think about right at the moment.

I was watching the 96 grandfinal at my brother in laws house and we were winning until a drunken mate turned up and burnt a whole in the couch with his smoke and broke my concentration ask anyone that knows me and I still blame "Cookie" for us loosing that one.(Think back to when Kelly was inside 50 and short passed to lockett but the kick was to long Martyn marked it and the roos ran the ball up the other end and kicked a goal .................that's when Cookie turned up)

We'll blame "Cookie" for the loss then.

          12 point turnaround.

It is the moment i can not watch beyond. If Kel had hit Plugger on the chest - I think we would have gone on and won it easy.

          But who knows.

Momentum is a HUGE factor and that short pass should have been a shot on goal! It is a tough kick to pull across your body, something Magic and few others could do!

I remeber feeling sick at half time because of how we let them back in with all guns blazing. Don't want that feeling this year!

It wasn't a kick across his body - Kel just tried to massage it too much and it fell short. He also missed one when bursting out of the centre just prior. Either of these two goals and I thik it could have been over. The other huge problem for us is that Luffy started like a gun, but Archer shut him down and we lost that avenue to goal. Hard to win at the MCG without an effective half forward line.

IMHO - The critical points were Kickett's missed goal, and the fact that Plugger's painkillers were wearing off for his groin prob and our small forward had his face smashed in (Obie) plus Luffie, possibly best on ground up to that time, was punched by
Schwatta and lost interest in proceedings...
