Sydney Swans vs Brisbane Lions first EVER day and nighter

I've just noticed that Sydney and Brisbane have never played a night match together before.

That may be one up against us, as well as one of the earlier posts which stated that we don't exactly have good refs on the day.

Oh well.. the Swannies will "go in and and WIN OVER ALL!"..

Lets see Swannies pull off a good start. All of you guys and gals like me with tickets COME EARLY AND NOT LATE... (not like the Collingwood game!).. because we NEED the Swannies to play well in the first and second quarter! We don't even want to see those losers be able to talk to each other! Loud and proud, lets see Akermanis CRYYYyyyy! hahahahahah....

Cheering the RED AND THE WHITE,

    BigBadBarryNo1!

Not sure where you got your info from.. I can think of at least 2 occasions in the last few years where we've played the Lions at night. In the preseason this year, and at the Gabba 2 years ago (rained, round 22, Tadhg Kennelly kicked a superb goal)

Agree on the need for a good start though.

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

I was at a night match against Brisbane back in round 2, 1998, at the SCG. We won, but we didn't know at the time that Brisbane were headed for the wooden spoon... but ah well... Hopefully the result will be repeated Saturday night.

Jeez, if its on the internet it must be true

                  I was at the game
                  It was round 22
                  It was night
I know it was night because it was dark
It was played the same time as the Bledisloe in Sydney and I was calling my mate for score updates
                  It pissed rain

                  I'm not a doubter. I was THERE!

AND I went to panthers to watch it that saturday night. NIGHT, I tells ya Charlie, I remember that night SCG game - it was Wayne Schwass's first game for the club - following suspension after stomping on a Geelong (?) player's head the previous year. Greg Stafford played a blinder if I recall correctly..

I watched that game at Panthers too with.....that's right, with Des!!!

It was actually a funny night.

I reckon there would have been 300 people crammed into the sports lounge with every one of the many, many screens all tuned to the Bledisloe Cup and much rejoicing whenever the Wallabies did something good.

Well, every screen except one. Des and I commandeered a small screen down one end of the bar and dutifully sat at a table eating our Hungry Jacks and watching the Swans-Brisbane game whilst getting updates on the Adelaide-Freo and StKilda-Hawthorn games which had a bearing on the Swans if we had won.

PS. You should remember that night BigBadBarry#1, you kicked the winning goal after the siren in your last kick in the Red,White and Black. And don't upset the 'refs' on Satdee night.
Driver of the Dan Hannebery bandwagon....all aboard. 4th April 09

                        Does it matter???
Even if we were 10 and 0 at night, I'd swap them all for this one!

I trust Lionised after seeing all the stats that are on that website. I remember the game in 2001 because my whole family came together and cheered on the Swans. It was definitely night.

I was there in 98, had dinner up the road with family then came down to the ground to brush shoulders with one of my childhood heroes, Lynch.
                              - Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in a world they've been given, than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact, it's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration, it's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing!
