Sydney Swans coach Paul Roos admits that dropping tall forward/defender Scott Stevens was a tough decision to make, particularly after his impressive form against Port Adelaide in the first qualifying final.
Although Brad Seymour was a forced omission with a knee injury, Stevens was omitted as the Swans rushed back key defender Jason Saddington and the versatile Ryan O?Keefe.
But Roos said that veteran Swans Daniel McPherson and Rowan Warfe were also unlucky not to be included after knocking on the door of selection.
?It?s always tough. You?d like to be able to play 25 or 26 (players). Scotty Stevens, Daniel McPherson and Rowan Warfe ? they?re the three that have been really unlucky,? Roos said at the Swans? training session at the SCG on Friday.
?With Daniel and Rowan, the last half of the season has been pretty tough for them, but I think the way they?re handling themselves is good.
?It hard for the coach and sometimes the players think it?s pretty easy for the coach to put a line through their name, but you do lose some sleep over it and certainly this week.?
