Geesh harsh luck girl! I am feeling your pain so will think of you out in the bush, wearing your Saturday best.

My close mate has to attend a wedding in Adelaide on Grand Final day where the ceremony commences at 2.30pm. What kind of South Australian arranges their wedding on GF day? Seriously, they must be into motor racing or something bazaar like that to avoid footy so royally.

My day just got even better when one of my suppliers rang me to say that they are going to fly me down for the Grannie and watch from their Super Box. Took me about a quarter of a second to say "yes please".

Does that make you feel any better? Probably not...sorry!

Why don't people learn to schedule weddings OUTSIDE the football season? I missed a game in 2001 (?) where we upset port at home, and the couple broke up a year later!! they are still copping abuse from me.

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

TH, it should be required reading for supporters of ANY sport

What about this for an idea for a poll:

What game would force you to skip the wedding of a close family member (or words to that effect):

Any Swan game throughout the year
            Syd v Lions First Round
            Syd v Lions Second Round
            First Semi Final
            Preliminary Final
            Grand Final
I would reluctantly go to the wedding
            I would prefer the wedding

If I knew how to set the poll up myself I would, what do you think Des?

Destructive is in exactly the same situation - he's groomsman at a wedding tomorrow and can't be there. It'll be so quiet without him - every Brisbane goal will remind us of his absence.
How could anyone have a wedding when there's football on? I just don't understand it.

I hold my hand up in shame. We celebrated our 11th year anniversary today. But I have legit excuses. It was to fit in with the sport we played ourselves between winter and summer. And as most (if not all) of my friends follow league only it didn't worry them as it didn't clash with the GF.

I do remember watching Geelong get beaten by West Coast whilst on my honeymoon. Much to hubby's disgust. Apparently Honeymoons aren't meant for watching footy

Is it a special date for weddings tomorrow? One of my mates can't get out of attending his cousin's wedding and he's damn sore about it.

One of the people I work with is good friends with Brett Kirk's fiancee, and she's off to Wagga this morning for a wedding. Thank God it isn't Kirky's!!!

                    I'm on the Chandwagon!!!

If you cannot compete for the premiership, it's better to be young and exciting than middle-aged and dowdy.

You can laugh, but it has happened that a player got married on prelim final day.
In Fitzroy's last final, the 1986 prelim final, defender Michael Reeves was flown out by helicopter straight after the game to get to his wedding.

When my husband was in corporate life, we used to host a table at the GF breakfast and follow up with the GF. We would host 4 other couples. The first Adelaide GF win, we had a group of people from all over the country, including a couple from Adelaide. They got flown into Melbourne (first time ever), put up at a flash hotel, flash dinner on the friday night, GF breaky, GF, Adelaide wins and I turn to this woman .... she's balling her eyes out and sobbing ... "this is the best day of my life" ... turned out it was ALSO their 30th wedding anniversary. I still remember that as one of my lasting GF memories (soon to be replaced with much better ones!).

And an omen ... one of the couples at our table will be celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary at the granny next week (and they're swans supporters). All the planets are aligned! We have belief!
