    The Crowd

Just wondering if the prevailing view is that our players looked a bit ovver-awed in front of the big crowd.

I mean there is the aspect of not being able to hear voices (al la LRT on the wing - players being on their own but not spotted).

Is the general view that they find it difficult - players concentration did not seem as good (understatement I think)

Hard to know whether it was the crowd, the occasion in general or just some general skill errors.

Bottom line Brisbane were just too mentally and physically tough for us. they had been there and done it before, we (up to this point) had not.

We will be better for it either way !

On another note, there were more than 71,000 people there last night - I've got this sneaking feeling AFL officials didn't want us to beat the Melb crowd which had gathered earlier in the day.

I'm not so sure about that GC - the last few rows in the very very top of the stands were empty - they were full for the Collingwood game and we got 74,000 to that one. Plus there were a couple of pockets of empty seats near the media seats and stuff that were full last time too.

I know that in the past they've not sold the tickets at the top of either side (of the east and west stands) because it's restricted area for AFL matches. When those are full to the top (like for an RL or RU match) it goes up to 84,000 (or thereabouts) capacity.

It just seemed as if there were more people this time from where I was sitting which was in the North stand.

Yeah normally they are the last to go on sale, but they were full for the Pies game cos one of my friends was in literally the back row for it. It was definitely a smaller crowd, but i preferred it (probably cos there was no collingscum to filthy up the place! )

There were also two big blocks completely empty on the ground level to each side of the very centre section. Does anyone know what the deal was with those, because I'd have thought they were pretty good seats? It looked as if they'd been bought in bulk by some agency who hadn't bothered to sell any of them.

Restricted viewing. You couldn't see the 50m area near where you would have been sitting. They didn't sell those seats, and probably would have only done it if the rest of the ground was sold out first.

As somebody said, you can't see over the flanks when this area is pulled back and in its AFL configeration. If you ask, the club WILL sell you those tickets. I know Greg Bell did for his junior footy club once.

The seating in the outer looked pretty much chockers. And I'm proud to say that the seating in the Cheer Squad area was also 95% full as well.

I'm now a convert to the ground. I reckon the atmosphere was special on Saturday night.
