    The Journey Home

    It's always a longer trip home when we've lost!
    But did CityRail really need to do trackwork when both AFL and NRL had finals ?
    Or is the post-Olympic attitude "Who cares , the Americans aren't watching any more"?

    A few Swans got "Cheer Cheer" going on the train but had to endure a ribbing from some Warriors fans -
    they were big , scary-looking buggers with tattoos.

    Their boyfriends and husbands looked even meaner!

      Didn't have any probs with trackwork up this way (for once) but for some unknown reason took roughly a hour to get from Strathfield to Hornsby

          Thanks for the laugh Swansinger. Maybe our trains were so slow because they had to lug all that league bulk around?

          I had skipped a friend's birthday for the game but had a great plan to jump in a cab so I wasn't too late. Good plan but after no cabs arrived in my first 10 minutes in the line I gave up and caught the train anyway. Maybe a taxi company should have had a look at the newspapers on Saturday morning and send a few cars to Olympic Park. Oh, I got to the party just as my friend was leaving the venue - I got lots of commiserations for our loss (and ticked off the guest list as a very late arrival).

              We waited a while b4 we bothered getting the train, didn't really have any problems at all, then we caught up with the media sluts. in Eddy Avenue, I must admit walking up Wentworth Ave with a drummer boy by my side was a novelty.

              twas a quiet trip home on the VB Flight.

                  Going home was ok. I did come a different way so it did take longer than normal. The general feeling I found is that we were very keen to give any Brisbane supporters around plenty of encouragement for next week. In fact any AFL follower was wishing them well against the filth.
                  I think this special fellowship we share with Brisbane should be fostered, and not try and make it a RL SOO type thing.

                      Damn straight - I found myself wishing the Brisbane supporters all the best for the game with a "may the best team win" attitude because they know what it's like to struggle against the league, the lack of credibility and the general hostility aussie rules has been subjected to in the past. I have a soft spot for them and was practising my lyrics today for next week sing at the end of the Grannie after the Three-peat!

                          I felt the same - I just have no animosity towards the Lions at all. EVERY year, if we can't do it, I'd like to see them win it, and I guess that made last night's loss a bit easier, that at least we lost to "the good guys".

                          I'm on the Chandwagon!!!

                          If you cannot compete for the premiership, it's better to be young and exciting than middle-aged and dowdy.

                              12 hours on a coach is my idea of what hell might be like; but after a season-ending loss the trip was like being sent to that part of hell reserved for the really really bad people.
