It appears that Collingwood champion Nathan Buckley will miss this year's Grand Final following a bizarre set of circumstances during last night's Brownlow medal presentation. After being officially announced as the latest recipient of the game's highest accolade, Buckley strutted his way through the crowd towards the stage to meet an adoring Eddie Maguire to receive the medal. Maguire, never shy in his admiration of Buckley, embraced the champion midfielder upon his arrival on the stage. "As Eddie hugged me, I felt a sharp stab to the groin area", a devastated Buckley said this morning. "Originally it just felt a bit stiff, but the firmer Eddie's embrace became, the more damage I could feel". The incident looks set to rule Buckley out of Saturday's Grand Final, and put on hold his life long dream to lift the premiership cup for at least another year. In a first, an embarrassed Eddie Maguire refused to comment.
