    Is McVeigh on the way?

There was an article in friday's Central Coast Herald (26th Sept) regarding the McVeigh brothers. Featured a photo of both of them at Forrester's Beach - near their parent's home.

The story suggested that the brothers could be joining up at the Swan's next year. Mark said he was always thinking about Sydney and being close to home to his parents and mates. He says that he is out of contract at the end of this year and although there have been no talks held with Sydney yet, he was certainly open to the move north.

Mark's arm was in a sling recovering from shoulder surgery which apparently hampered him all year. The boys were to attend the Killarney Vale Bomber's Grand Final day function.

I wonder if this is another Aker type promotion or there is more substance as has been suggested in previous posts here. I thought he liked it in Melbourne. However seeing three team mates traded last year and the 2 M's to be dumped this year, I could understand him wanting to jump while he still had the chance.

At least an up date to what's being said here on the Central Coast as this story would not have featured anywhere else.
In memory of my little Staffy - Dicey, 17.06.2005 to 1.12.2011- I'll miss you mate.

I'd have him. If he does really want to come here, then we'll get him cheap, just like Davis. He may not be the best or most wanted player, but if he's cheap then why not

Unfortunately he will add very little and as a regular player they will want something....only for free do we take him!

Richmond is keen on everyone though. They seem to think they'll have no problem snaring a handful of top quality players despite recent salary cap constraints and having very little quality to trade with. And at least with Collingwood it seems to be their supporters who think they can recruit everything without giving any quality up. I get the impression with Richmond the club believes that as well.

Richmond have already said they will trade Holland (makes me very happy) - I gather Richo is not far behind.

So clearly they are ready to trade

Interesting. If ROK is also homesick ???? then a straight swap for McVeigh might be the way to go .

Geez - that would be a dud swap for us wouldn't it - players who have shown they can - or have the potential to stand up in finals should be held onto at all costs.

                    - McVeigh would have been at home in the C/wood side on the weekend

No way. There was another quote I read this morning where McVeigh said "I'm always thinking about Sydney." I f aplayer wants to move you have the upper hand. For starters Ryan is a MUCH better player. Same age but genuinely sized he's 190 cm and pushing 90 kg. Players of his skill, size AND Heart are very rare. He would be a straight swap for Jacobs, who has less polish (and beauty) but more experience and is a KPP. Essendon have plenty of those in Lucas, Richards, Bolton.

Third round pick would be generous for Mark. He goes all right but hasn't managed to crack the Essendon midfield on a regular basis. Maybe we would have to settle for giving them Ryan plus a second round pick if Ryan really wants to go. But McVeigh doesn't mind getting in the thick of it and maybe he could turn out to be a clearance winner. Definitely worth a gamble. However if the Swans have talked to him he will know that he can nominate for the pre season draft and be fairly sure that no one will take him before us, I would have thought.

Though he's had a pretty consistent year and I'm quite sure he played every game...

Comments here are just like comments from every other club supporter. So many seem to think that their players are worth heaps when they trade them, but all opposition players are duds and we should get them for nothing. Nothing like those rose-coloured glasses!!

i certainly vote yes for Mark Mc Veigh...aside from my New South Welsh prejudice..I do think he would be a good pick up..

He's played pretty well this year...he can be a bit physical, which I think is what we need...he can kick goals...he's quick..he can play down back...and he's young..which means he can improve a lot...

He's also a local..and has pretty good skills..so I think he would be worth looking at..

I am prejudiced however..so bear that in mind!
