    Genetics

I noticed at the GF that three of the players we have talked about as really wanting (Michael, Leppitsch ann Bradshaw) whom we regard as giants are in fact not very tall. Mark Powell is taller than all of them. Glen Archer is shorter than me! Clearly the missing ingredient is muscle and power. We have a very, very long list of tall players, but I notice that the the number of kilos is almost directly proportionate to the number of games. If Buckley plyed for us he would be our third heaviest non-ruckman! How much can players usefully bulk up or is Archer/Hall/Michael/Lynch type strength just genetic? Surely Saddo can out on five kilos...but will he be much stronger for it or will a Bradshaw still push him off the ball? PLease God give each of our players 5-10 kg before March. That will be my Christmas wish.

    Hall 194 99
    Goodes 194 95
    Schauble 193 94
    O'Loughlin 190 90
    Saddington 194 90
    Warfe 190 90
    O'Keefe 190 89
    James 189 89
    LRT 196 86
    Kennelly 190 86
    Stevens 194 85
    Hunt 193 84
    Bolton 190 83
    Dempster 191 82
    Powell 192 81

    Barry 184 88
    Cresswell 183 87
    Ablett 184 87

    Brown 195 99
    Michael 190 99
    Lynch 193 98
    Leppitsch 191 97
    Pike 189 92
    Bradshaw 190 91

    Rocca 195 106
    Wakelin 191 95

I just can't imagine Saddo ever looking like Bazza (even if he shaved his head). In fact Saddo would probably lose a few kilo if he lost his hair.

It is partly genetics, but also looking big doesn't automatically make you stronger either. That is to do with a power to weight ratio.

These guys (some of) are the future of the club. They have the height and most have the skills, but they really need to improve their size and strength.

Craig Bolton is an example .
