Not sure if anyone else picked this up or whether or not it has already been mentioned but thought I would share it:
In the Sydney - Adelaide game where Carey got 5 goals and probably won them the match, he did not receive a Brownlow vote for the game.
So whilst the Brownlow medallists like Bob Skilton, Bulldog Murray and Ian Stewart defend the virtues of the medal for being both the best and fairest - looks like the umpires protect it even more, which is a great thing.
