No, I wouldn't be happy about a lower position, but what I'm saying is that in the end this year we had done enough to finish 6th. Due to the results from the other games we were helped into 4th.

If we win the same amount of games in the H&A next year it will be my minimum expectation.

From then on anything less than winning 2 finals games will be unacceptable, a grand final appearance prefferable. We can't afford to limp into the finals and disappear the next week like we used to.

That's OK but there are others who said 8th was acceptable so I'm hardly Mr Doomsday!

All I want is an improvement. That means a Grand Final, and naturally, once we're in a Grand Final we need to be willing to do everything to win. Therefore: All I am willing to set as a goal is a premiership. Nothing less will satisfy me.
A lower position wouldn't necessarily mean treading water. The goal is, of course, a premiership but maybe not next year. Roos always said that 2005 was the year he hoped to be in a real position to challenge.

If we limp into 6th or 7th without really bringing any more young players along, then it will be treading water. But if we do it with the likes of Thewlis, McVeigh, James, Dempster etc getting senior experience and making LRT or even Schneider-like contributions we will still be moving in the right direction.
